hi guys, having a problem with the compass. in the last few days it seems to have a mind of its own. for example runway 28 may have a heading of 350, and i just opened a saved flight in which i am heading west-south-west, approx 250 deg., but by compass and obs are showing 016 deg. this happens on all of my a/c.
i recently installed a demo of denver airport so gonna remove that see if it was the offending item.
any ideas?

Have you tried reseting the heading indicator when your in the plane? - the default key should be 'D'. (Or have a look in 'Options' -> 'Controls' -> 'Assignments' & then see what key 'Heading Indicator (reset)' is assigned to).
Just a wild guess but it might be it.
Cheers,
TSC.

tried that, no joy! the problem is not specifically with the compass or heading indicator but with the game itself. even the gps has the same problem. so far i seems to be happening around the americas, europe seems unaffected. it is as iff all headings have shifted by a set amount. (+130 degrees or so...)
thanks
John

Think I recall that this can be caused by a bad Afcad file.
(..or possibly multiple Afcad files for the same airport)
Did you try removing the Denver demo including any associated Afcad files?

That is how i found the solution ... in AFCAD check the suspected offending (denver) airport and click "restore original airport"

Hello Folks
Had exactly the same problem following the installation of some FS2004 scenery files apparently files including the prefix AF2_ can cause this problem, in my case the compass and GPS vary plus 30 or 50 degrees.
Whenever this happens I use search to check for AF2_ files and where they relate to airport scenery I rename them and restart PC and FS2002 if that does the trick, I then delete them. This happens in about 20% of FS2004 scenery downloads and most cases sorts the problem.
I hope that helps
Geoff

hi all, problem solved!
wheni removed the scenery i simply ran the uninstall prog, but i noticed later that the scenery was still listed in the addon scenery dialog box. i removed that scenery area and bad-a-bing! sorted!
thanks all for your help.
John.
