Quote:ya i am talking about core cell feature which is available on nforce4 MSI motherboards..and also on MSI video cards...it is known as Dynamic overclocking technology..D.O.T. and it contains certain level e.g private, commander, colonel, genral etc...it is built in technology....now i wanted to know that when i use this option i dont think that it is making really some difference...
I cannot vouch for the NF-4 series, only comment on a system I own. I have DOT on an older MSI-NF-2 motherboard, which is currently in storage, and in order to maintain overclock stability enabling DOT in “private” mode is required. I did research on the K7N2-Delta2 Platinum sometime back and reported my findings in this thread at the MSI site:
http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?topic=86999.0In my findings, raising the DOT does increase performance when properly balanced with a FSB overclock however the system can become unstable at high DOT settings. SERGENT was the most stable setting I found. Any higher and intermittent lockups would occur.
The Nvidia memory controllers have an inherent issue with memory timing. It was discovered it was best to set the memory timing manually in the BIOS and to set the CAS to 2.5 (assuming memory is rated for CAS-2) and the T-RAS to 11, even if the memory was rated for 5, 6 or 8. In other words, if your memory is rated @ CAS-2, 2, 3, 5… set it manually in the BIOS to 2.5, 2, 3, 11 for boosted memory performance.
Also, it was found that the DOT settings for the video card listed in the BIOS as: NV/ATI SPEEDUP should be DISABLED if you overclock the video card in Windows.
