So nice to be flying again; I've done more flying this summer than I had in the last 5 years!!
I was going to take a friend up Sunday, but he bailed at the last minute (wife and kids). Probably should've just done some pattern work, but decided to make my planned flight to Ocean city, NJ anyway.
Here's a shot of my new home field, 47N, as I depart.
Be advised that these are all "blind" shots, taken on an overcast day through either a scratchy old windscreen or side windows that are lightly tinted and a bit hazy. I've tweaked a few...hope they're not too crappy for your enjoyment.
Blecccchhh... overcast at about 7000; some sullen puffers
scattered around at 3000-4000. My plan will take me along the shore most of the way, so I'll keep it at around 3000, maybe a little lower if necessary to maintain VFR flight. The vis (reported as "more than 6 miles") is not bad... actually about ten or eleven miles. The air's pretty smooth, too, and it's nice and cool up here.
This would be Old Bridge Airport (3N6), my first checkpoint about 15 miles SE of 47N. The runway is at the top in this image; next is a water track for jet-ski racing (and maybe amphib. operations); then there's the Englishtown Raceway drag strip; and at the bottom one can see the motocross pits. Looks like there's some racing going on today... "Sunday... SUUNNDAY!!!"
Ahhh... at last I have some smooth air to really get acquainted with ol' 715... look at this. She's all mine now. Fingertip control, trimmed out perfectly at 3000. And yes, this lasted more than 10 seconds...
. Also a very successful shot inside the cabin with a flash- cool. I never smoke in flight, but the ashtray is perfect for holding a pack of chewing gum...
I've scanned some parts of the NYC and Washington sectionals to give an idea of where I'm going... hardly needed a chart on this flight, as I'm following the beach most of the way....
Next: more of the same...

Great cockpit shot rotty.
Your first shot near the bottom of the picture.
What are those white things all around the three ponds?
Some of them look like golf carts but are to big for that I think.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

You're close... they're sand traps. That is, in fact, a golf course.

Nice shots Rotty. Looking forward to the others. I'm a big fan of airfield overhead shots, be it of open airfields or closed (
) ones...

Great shot of Englishtown Raceway park. I've been there many times and always get caught watching the planes coming and going instead of watching the race.

That's cool... i went to a stock-car race somewhere in NJ a zillion years ago, but have never checked out an event at Englishtown (or was it...? There's no oval track there, right?). What were you driving there?
And, BTW: remember the radio ads? "Rrrraceway Park!!"... "nitro-guzzling funnycars!!!" "Ssuunnddaaayyy!" with the cool rock riff going in the background... great stuff.

Hmmm.... I'll be in touch. So far this summer, I've had a hell of a time pinning down all my friends who have expressed interest, so I need to expand my list.
But bear in mind, it's not exactly a photo ship. The side windows are tinted slightly, and the windscreen is... well, I can see where I'm going, but...when I start flying the 152s, maybe one of those will turn out to be more suitable for photography.

Hey Rotty, Maybe you went to Wall Stadium, Flemington or any of the other circle tracks in NJ but,
E-town was just a dragstrip.
Well I had a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA that ran mid 14's. Then a 1968 Mustang GT that ran mid 14's.
My favorite was my 1969 Mustang Mach 1 that ran mid to low 13's. I'm going though my garage to dig
up some pictures.
I also had a 1979 Ford F-150 that was the fisrt brand new vehicle I purchased. 19 yrs old and the
payments began. It had a 460 c.i. in it and did low 15's.
Theres a picture below of the truck a friend took of me racing at E-town.
I'll never forget those commercials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speed Racer at the wheel!!

Anytime you want just contact me. I be ready and waiting.
I don't sound to pathetic do I. I just love to fly and since my trip to Minnesota was moved to
February ( BRRRRRRRR!!! ) I need a flying fix.
