SimV has a "Links" page that provides a list of sites that are very helpful. I would start off at FreeFlightDesign.com. Plenty of tips, tutorials, and a forum well focused on Gmax and FSDS modeling.

How about a shot?

You need to Export your aircraft to FS2004 (or whatever) - in doing so you choose an existing  model similar to the one you have made -

Once exported,  the '.air' file & aircraft.cfg are there - ready made from the model you chose.

You can then edit the aircraft.cfg file to suit you model - simply do this in Notepad - should be fairly obvious stuff - but let us know if you have problems ...

Editing the 'air' file is far more complicated & something most designers tackle with great respect Wink - & probably not necessary with your 1st creation.   8)

Have a look at these and this Smiley

I'm not really clued up on Aircraft Designing, but from what you've said above, it sounds as if you might be trying to Export from Gmax without the relevant Gmax Gamepack and MakeMDL SDK's installed.

Stratobat

gosshhh Grin  the looong way to get up in the air!!!, remember flight dinamics are almost as important as  the model itself.
freeflightdesign is the best site to get the right info, wich model/make aircraft are you on it?

Welcome to the madness ...

No, it isn't simple.  MAking the gmax model is the "easy" part ...

Hey Pilot,

Have you tried posting the problem over at FFDS in their Forum?

A lot of the FS Aircraft Designer's hang out there and I'm sure one of them must have had the same problem along the way ???

Stratobat

Without knowing what errors he's getting, there's not much more that can be done neither here nor at FFDS.

The first questions will be:

Did you install the gmax SDK as per the instructions?

When you export and choose "aircraft", what error(s) are you getting?
