Where: MY server (IP address to be announced before hand! Wink

what: Why our third flight of course! Wink

From: KLKV (Lakeview Oregon)

As always audio is being handled using SKYPE (www.skype.com). If you don't have it, download it and let us know your username prior to the flight, or STAY at the back of the pack and try to avoid collisions.. Wink

Aircraft to be used is still to be determined, check back tomorrow for more details on that front.

If I've left something out, and you have questions, PLEASE feel free to ask them here or PM me, or e-mail me.. Wink  I would hate for someone to lose out on the fun just because they didn't ask a silly question..Wink

Hopw to see you there,

Jared

Edited to add the map of where we have been thus far!
...

Hi all.  This time I should be able to make it .... barring any unforseen circumstances.

I'll keep you posted.

Questions........ do we use real weather updated every 15 min?  And do we fly "real time" or set it to daylight this time?

best,

..............john

John,

To answer your question we tend to use real world weather updated all the time, barring any real bad weather that may prevent us from flying. We do use FShost, BUT we do not use it to enforce real world weather all the time, so theoretically you can run whatever weather you feel comfortable with.. Wink

As far as time of day goes, I usually tend to run real world time minus about 2-3 hours so as to keep in daylight throughout the whole flight. What's the sense in flying around the USA if you do it all at night?

Again, both of these decisions are really up to the individual pilot, and his/her skills/desires.. Wink

Hope this helps, and I'll look forward to meeting up with you again!

Jared

As to aircraft........

As we well know, if we don't all have the same aircraft..... we get some weird stuff.  As far as small props go, I have almost no addon aircraft.  So I will be "stuck" with flying a default plane unless I know well beforehand... and have time to download and install it.  So right now I am planning on the default C172 uless you have other suggestions.

I also probably should have a few minutes of air time in an unfamiliar aircraft before taking on an xc flight  Wink

best,

.............john

PS:  Concrete is in and post is now setting up.  Tomorrow have to dig a 100 foot trench and bury the pvc conduit and string the cable.  More fun.

Good thinking Ben, that 206 is really nice, though I might stick with the stock 182S for this flght as it has been awhile since I've flown one of those! Smiley

To kind of answer your question John, I'm in the process of coming up with a list of planes that I will make available to other pilots with recommendations that they go and download them, even if they never fly them, at least they will see a beechcraft duchess instead of a stock baron or something similar..Wink

Pianoman,

I got it.  Thanks.  Will install it and check it out a bit.  Might still just go with the one of the default twins too.  At least I'll see you correctly this time  Wink.

Got some flight planning info for every one:

KLKV

Dusk is officially "there" at 2115 local time.

Runways 16/34   5306' x 100' asphalt ; left patterns

Rwy 16   163m / 180 t
Rwy 34    343 m / 000 t

gen rwy alt is about 4730'

You can gas up at Goose Lake Aviation for $3.50 a gallon.  Wink

I had a nice time at Hunters Hot Springs Resort last night.... reminded me of the onsen in Japan.

For takeoff and departure navigation the Lakeview VOR (LKV) is on 112.00 Mhz.

Official Departure for rwy 16 is climbing right turn on r163 direct to over LKV then climb to altitude in LKV hold pattern rt turns 148 inbound.  Departure for 34 is climbing left  turn heading 320 and intercept r148 LKV then via r148 to over LKV and climb as above.

For arrival at Walla Walla.........

KAWL

ASOS is 135.875

There are three sets of runways...... 16/34 + 2/20 + 7/25.   The 7/25 one is supposed to be in bad repair.

There is a CAT I ILS on rwy 20.  I suggest we take that one if possible.  Altitude is about 1185' MSL.

Rwy 20  Localizer is on 111.70   -standard GS  ID is IALW.  There is a middle but no inner marker.

Outer marker is TRINA at 353 kHz.  ID is AL  at 5.7 nm.

GPS approach for Rwy 20 is via RENGO.YALLOW.KIMIW.TRINA.  ALT at KIMIW is 4000 to 3200 at TRINA and 2300 at the MM.  Over Trina is 5.7 nm from the threshold.

Hopefully this is some help in planning a tad.

See ya all soon.

best,

...................john

I checked the flight time in the default C182 and it is about 2 1/2 hours.  In the default Baron it is about 1 1/2 hours.  Your thoughts?

Also I figured the following flight plan worked reasonably for GPS if anyone wants to use it.

KLKV.LKV.IMB.ENZUV.RENGO.YALLOW.EPATE.KIMIW.TRINA.KALW

Works out to 308 nm.

See ya all soon.

best,

Well change of plans. Since seems like some people are using twins, I will as well. I'm not sure which one yet, but I have two in mind. The first is the brand new Beech D18, found on Avsim, file is d18svc4.zip

And the other is the Twin Bonanza, also found on Avsim, file is twin_bonanza__pour_fs2004.zip

Cya soon 8)

Hi all.

I will have SKYPE waiting just before 9 PM and will log on around then too.  Don't expect SKYPE before you see me at the airport.

Maybe I'll run my BAe 146-200  Grin.  Just kidding.
