Anyone have any ideas?

Dell XPS
P4
XP Pro
nVidia 6800GT 256
1 gig ram
200 GB HD

yesterday while changing a flight plan, my screen went black. had to shut off PC pressing the power button, now it wont boot up at all. No boot up noises. Nada.

I called XPS support but the yutzes dont have me on file for some reason so I have to call customer support tomorrow morning to find out why before they will let me talk to tech support.

just another addendum...

I installed my old 9800 Pro ATI card and still black screen

I can occasionally get a brief (half second) Dell logo with either card but then it goes black again

I had that problem once with my Dell. I called a local computer shop, and they said to unplug it for awhile, which I did, and still nothing. So they told me I could bring it in and they would take a look at it. Did that and the d*mn thing worked fine when I got it there. Even to this day I dont know why it did it.... Sad

Hi Steve...Wink...!

I think that this could be a problem with your PSU - it could be faulty - you might want to swap it for another one and see if there's any difference.

Cheers... Grin...!

PS. Throw the Dell away... Cheesy... 8)... Cheesy...!

LOL well of all things it wasnt the Dell, it was my LCD monitor. Apparently my monitor took a nosedive. thankfully I have my other monitor on my other PC that I plugged it into and viola

My Dell monitors Great!  Roll Eyes

The rest of it is all self built.....

Glad you sorted it SaVas.  Wink

Secondhand Dell monitors, sourced from friend for £20 last longer than LCD for 10x the price !

If I were you, I'd replace that LCD with a 24inch CRT monitor,I guarantee you'll get a good one for the cost of a 15inch LCD as long as you don't mind e-bay or similar.....  no buggered pixels to boot. Wink
