I found a really nice brand new like Saitek R80 Racing wheel while cleaning a garage (got it for free too) Now the question.... The blasted thing is a gameport conection (serial I think) Now what do I need to convert it to either my serial port on comp, or to my USB port... the wheels connector is 16 pins, Thanks again for any help! Cheers, Gunny

PS: The port on my computer is 9 pins

First check the mainboard manual to see if there is a gameport riser on the mainboard to add a gameport. (it's done by a cable connection to the riser)

There are some converter products available but they don't always work depending on your hardware.

Purchase a cheap soundcard with a game port, install it, disable the sound bit*, job done.

This solution worked for me and my PC, Joystick (Gameport) Gamepad (Gameport) - I just disable whichever one I don't need in the "Game Controller" part of Control Panel.

* disable sound, assuming you already have a soundcard....

I did have a converter but i cant remember if it was product specific. I have seen a universal one around, but i dont know if its still avaliable. Check out your local PC world, or circuit city if your in the usa.
Andrew couldn't you also add some suggestions if those dont work?

There are converters:
http://www.usb-port.com/rm203.html

But, a cheap soundcard w/gameport will be easier to find for about the same price.
