Just wondering what are everyone's typical operating temps?

My PC idles at 27*c (80*f) case temp, 48*c (118*f) CPU temp.

Full load 35*c (95*f) case temp, 57*c (135*f) CPU temp.

I use MBM5 (motherboard monitor 5) http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ it works really well and is spyware/virus free.

BTW, my pc specs:

Intel Pentium 4 560J Prescott 3.6Ghz
2Gb PC800 RDRAM
NVidia GeForce FX6800GT
147Gb SCSI 320 (15k RPM) C: Drive
147Gb SCSI 320 (15k RPM) D: Drive
2 RAID 400Gb Serial ATA150 backup drives

AMD Athlon 64 3700+&&GeForce FX5200 256Mb&&1GB DDR400 DC&&Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD&&Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
&&&&That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they kicked the pants off of my P4 3.4!

Usual working PC: 40-50C usual (that means 70-80% load as the thing is getting bad after 2 years abuse)
Alternate PC: 50C idle (AMD 1800XP old version)

Prescott CPU's are notoriously hot little buggers, those temps are similar to my friends P4 Prescott , I would'nt worry, just go fry eggs....... Grin

huh thats a little more than I get, and mines overclocked. If your worried about this clean up your casewiring (PM me for suggestions on how to do this) Also changeing your heatsink can drastically help. Hell I just changed the fan on my stock sink, and my temps went down almost 3*C

So what kind of temps do ya get Ctjoyce?
The Intel 90nm core(prescott) is great but it is the hotest chip out there. Not sure what motherboard you use Ctjoyce but if your using its sensor rember most of those sensors are inaccurate by some degree and may read high or low. If you have  XP-120 with tornado it will def bring the temps down a lot. Rember CT thats a 3.6, about 200 Mhz slower than your 3.8 with a bit higher temps. Dosentt sound like he has any probs especially if he is useing a stock HSF.

Well if you rember mines a 3.4 O/Cd to a 3.8, and during the winter it goes to 4.1 (he he) anyway my Temps are 33* Idle and 55*~57* on load. This is down from 37*idle and 57*~60* on load.  <these temps averaged between SpeedFan, random DesktopX witdget, and BIOS>

Ive got a Gigabyte 8I915P motherboard.

What kind of HSF you got on that thing? I just saw a computer with a 3.4E Pressy water cooled at 4.0Ghz 49-51C temps (I am assuming thats load). So you must have a pretty beefy HSF to keep up with water Shocked

http://www.xpcgear.com/silent775.html that with a high CFM fan (Antec i think) Also remember I live in the basement, so its considerably cooler down here. And also just because its watercooling dosnt mean its alwaies better + thats4GHZ. mines 3.8 so youve gotta take that into account.

Yes room temp does make a difference. as does case ventilation. Elevated atleast 6 inches, and atleast 6 inches from a wall  is the best way to get a good airflow out of your case. Also (if you have a modder case) putting fans (blowing in) in the fron of the case will creat a nice flow over the HDD and will also put a dent in the hot air that usually gets traped between the graphics card, and the southbridge / northbridge
