Hello all! I'm bored and looking for something to do....

My motherboard supports RAID setup, and I happen to have two 40GB hard drives that are identical.....

Would I gain anything if I put the sim on it's own raid setup? Would I be less likely to loose my files if I had them on a raid setup?

Currently I'm running FS on my main drive (120GB) and I will backup the sim folders to a backup 40GB drive in the system.

What are your thoughts?

The point about how likely you are to lose files depends on what RAID striping you choose. RAID0 (Half on each drive) will make it quite noticably faster I would think, RAID1 is like an auto back up facility. Go ahead and do it mate, if only for a laugh!  Wink

Yes you do gain probability on to loose data on RAID0 ecause data is on 2 hard drives, 1 fails its all gone ALL. Its also the fastest.  You will get performance increase.
