Hello again, just wondering. I have a Maxtor 180 gig internal hd. I see on my MOBO there is a connection from my HD going into the MOBO SATA 1.
Can I add a 2nd HD and plug it into where it says SATA2 on the MOBO?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave...!
Yes you should, just make sure you put it in the right socket... otherwise your computer WILL start to hate you...

...!
You could put in another hard drive, then start up a RAID connection for an ULTRA-FAST speed; you'll be losing all the space you have on your new hard drive, but for the speed you'll be getting on your smoooth system... 8)...!
Cheers Dave...!
Rob.

You most certianly can Dave!
Keep on adding util all the sockets are full or the wife chucks you out for spending too much. Keep RAID in mind when your buying the new drive - may well be a faster option than getting somehting like a Raptor!

It has to be a SATA (Serial ATA) hard drive to do that, or if you have a spare IDE position, you could buy an IDE drive (ATA 133 for example) and put it on the IDE cable.
There are 4 IDE positions, 2 on each IDE ribbon cable, so with those, plus the 2 SATA drives, you can have a max of 6 hard drives I believe.
The SATA drives are faster than IDE generally.
