This morning, my joystick was working fine. I browsed the internet, and was going through my downloaded addons most of the morning, without making any configuration changes to my computer. Early this afternoon, I decided to launch the Flightsimulator to test out a new aircraft and noticed the FS wasn't responding to my joystick. I tried adding my joystick back into the 'Game Controllers' in the controll panel, but I get an error saying "Your Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly configured. Please consult the device manager.

I double checked my bios setup, and my USB ports were enabled. I reinstalled my motherboard drivers, and it still won't work.

When I open up the Device Manager, there's a yellow flag next to the 'Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller'. When I open it up, it says there are no drivers for it, and I can't seem to locate any.

I tried plugging my USB compact flash drive and it seems to be working fine, but I can't get my joystick to work.

Can someone please help me.

Ok, I've been searching and I finally found an article that talks about my problem, but it doesn't help me at all.

Quote:
This behavior occurs when you use a third-party gameport to USB adapter to connect a gameport controller to a USB port.

RESOLUTION
Connect the SideWinder gameport device to a compatible gameport. The Microsoft SideWinder Freestyle Pro and most models of the Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro can be used with the Microsoft gameport to USB adapter.

My Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick is USB, and it plugs directly into the USB port. I'm not using any type of 3rd party gameport, or a USB adapter.

Andrew make sure the stick is plugged into USB port 1. I had a similar problem ages back, for some reason my machine wouldn't recognise the stick in port 2. And nope I have no idea why as port 2 works fine!

I'm not exacltly sure what made it work, but between pure luck or trying some random idea, it's working again.

Thanks for the help
