Hey I got a dell 2400 with a celeron 2.2ghz,40gb hd,and i think 256mb or 128mb ram and I was thinking of ordering some ram (2 sticks of 512mb ram) and I was wondering if that would boost the performance of the computer because I really want to use scenery at high levels like the terrain texture high I can use perfectly with my current configuration but if I put on some AI traffic and dense scenery it goes at like half a frame per second so I was curious a gig of ram would help it?

I'm guessing with a low spec dell such as this the power of the graphics chip will be small to non-existent. I doubt 2 more sticks of RAM (1Gb) would make a huge amount of difference on its own if you have no graphics card capable of using it. Upgrading the RAM to about 512Mbs & upgrading the graphics card would probably be the most cost effective way to make an improvement.
But you haven’t got the best of starting points!

mind you, i'm the right person (almost) for you. i gots a 2400 w/ P4 2.6 Ghz.
if you can believe it, a gig of ram did make a nice improvement. i bought 2 kingston 512mb 333DDR ram (i think thats right) and it picks up where the processor and graphics leave off.
I managed to boost my graphics to a higher level, although there is still room for improvement.

More RAM will not give as good an end result as say a 6 series Nvidia card !
I've recently upgraded a mates PC, 2.4 Celeron, 1Gb pc2100 DDR RAM and a 6600GT. - His old spec was 256MB RAM, FX5600 card.
FS9 runs roughly twice as fast at double the rez of the old setup !
No need to ditch that Celeron, yet.
Posting drivel here since Jan 31st, 2002. - That long!
