Hello again,

My pet project requires some oddball control surface commands to be added in order to function as required.  Specifically, there are two elevons which function much like the F-16's "flaperons", i.e., they provide roll control as well as pitch.  These surfaces are however also split horizontally in order to act as secondary airbrakes (similar to an A-10 Warthog's wingtip airbrakes).  Basically I have four parts here that each need to be given the functions of pitch, roll and spoiler/airbrake.  I am wondering if there is a way to assign several commands to one control surface part, or is there a way to create new commands for custom-made control surfaces? ???  I know this can be done, as apart from the F-16 and A-10 examples noted here, I have downloaded a B-1B which features the horizontal stab/"rollerons" with the proper movement and flight effects.  Project has been created using FSDS2.  Any assistance is most welcome!

What most people will do is create a copy of the control surface.  The parent will be named "l_aileron"  and the copy " l_flap"  for example.  (or really, use the keyframe equivalents, since you'll be doing specific animations)

animate each part normally.

link one (say, l_flap) to the other.

delete all points except four (you can even set it as a Hierarchy node so that no geometry is created on cimpilation) and so it won't be seen.

Hopefully, visually one part will seem to be doing the work of two.

Thanks Felix, I'll give it a go and let you know how it works out - only unsure about how to link the parts together, is this accomplished using the hierarchy mode alone (checking the appropriate box) or is there another step involved?

Thanks again,

Brian

In FSDS - you go to the parts properties dialog box (F2) and in the drop down box below the part name, you select the parent part by name.
