You will only get that FPS under certain circumstances I am afraid.  With my spec as listed I drop down to 20FPS at bigger airports with loadsa AI.

FS2004 uses all of your PC not just your G/card remember that!  You will however notice other games are absoutely awsome with the 6800Ultra and saying that so is FS2004 if you get it all setup correctly!

It may be time for you to maybe use somthing like the FS-GS service to get your system running its best!  www.FS-GS.com

One thing with this card go into your BIOS and ensure 'FastWrites' are Disabled.

anyway whats about the hyper Threading dosit make any Different?

I think I'm going to reformat my Hard drive and reinstall win xp sp1 and the card frash with the 66.81 driver and install fs2004 the very first and we will see then!

Try 67.02 drivers from www.guru3d.com Wink - Working a treat here for me! also, forget SP1, install SP-2 from a clean install. Wink

Hmmm Well First off I am VERY sorry you are having this problem, I would be disapointed to to sped 600 and get those FPS, I have heard of this happining to another person here to but I cant rember if it was the same card or not. I am kinda lost here what I would have sad are already said but shoot a reformat cant hurt as long as you don't have any important data and if you do back it up  Wink. Let us know how things good and good luck Smiley

Yes...

I took one of my drives, did a quick format

I installed only WIN XP SP1 (SP2 killed allot of music applications)
And only the Intel BIOS chip set
The 66.81 drivers
The FS2004
And by default the FPS was 50.0! Wow! (Still not 70.3 FPS as I dreamed from the chart...)

But one second, the FPS by default setting with this kind of card isn't any big deal...

So I slide everything up to the highest level except for weather I left just high.( I like to fly in real weather…) and the FPS drooped all the way to…………12.3 remember that’s a eVGA 6800 ultra 256 DDR3 dual display card….and a PC full of 600 watt Power supply, intal P4 D875PBZ, a western digital 7200rpm HD  and more then 2GB dual RAM! I mean, com'on! were are we???

But wait…

When I dialed down the autogen density to normal the FPS jumps right back between 30 and 40 FPS.

So with these Pease of information I reboot the PC in the old H-D and the FPS Sleeps at 1.5……….some times at 11.9 an then back to 5.6 and so on, so I know  something is going on with the operating system,   I reboot again in the new windows and the FPS is again between 30 and 40 FPS.

But when I wanted to install my favorite "GIGA STUDIO 96" program it did not want to install, so I figured because of the new card,

So I wiped everything out again and I installed the Old ATI 9800pro 128 and with the same setting prescribed above  I got only between 12 and 24 FPS compared to the 6800 ultra what was between 30 and 40 FPS.

NOW here is what I did in order to improve FPS

As I figured hyper Threading should be ON
In the bios the VGA memory should be set to 256
and if some one ever won'a go from ATI to 6800 he should better back everything up reformat the drive…….and than, when you going to land with an paid  aircraft like A DC-9 or PIC - into busy airports, your FPS will "DROOOOOOOOP" down all the way, to a noticeable difference,

But don’t be surprised if you run FS2004 at maximum levels the scenery gets to edgy and contrast'y, and it's much harder to see your runway! as when you have less information on you screen, the scenery feel's much more  "SMOOTH" and it is possible to look out and see at a grater distance your runway, and the main: A higher FPS.

AND ALL THIS WITH A $600.00 CARD!

Well for your system and that card (The best in my oppinion) you should be getting your 70 FPS you have been wanting, what areas is this screen taken in?

Gunnerman on max settings I would disagree there on getting the 70FPS.

I am sure that in the graph that was put up my myself the sim was not being run at max settings.

As I said I cannot achieve anywhere near 70FPS at big airports with loadsa AI and my CPU is better than YF's.  My system is also set up very well for gaming due to me using the FS-GS service.

With everything maxxed busy airports expect around 20FPS on YF's setup.  Once away from busy places maybe 30-50 depending on where you are and how much autogen there is.  If you look directly up from under the plane you should hit about 70-80FPS.  These are only a rough guideline and every system shall be different.

That's exactly right!!

But I wonder what system do I have to buy, to get minimum 30FPS even in the busiest airports with lots of AI and auto gen. all the way up!

Like other Audio-Music programs that is vary CPU hungry, it is possible to buy a PCI card with some chips  that takes over some work from the CPU
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PowerCorePlus/
and ads additional DSP power, so with normal PC's they will give a solid performers….ha?

As I have said before FPS isn't everything.  Get your system up and running optimised and having the game running 'SMOOTHLY' is the key.
