Dose anyone know the command/assignment to reverse thrust on a jet or prop ac?  I use the spoilers but sometimes that is not enough.

I know on some panels there is a way to reverse the thrust but I cannot find a key command to do that.

Any Sugestions?

Thank you,
Scotch

Are you serious or kidding (It does work when I try it, but I never knew that prop planes could reverse thrust)

It's the same principle for both props and turbofans.
You direct some part of the forward thrust to the side.

On the turboprops you angle the blades so the thrust is directed to the sides (That why it makes lots of noise in the cabin as the air is shattered against the fuselage)

On Turbofans you either have buckets aft of the engine, typically common on low bypass engines (On the DC9 and 727's etc). The bucket reverses both bypass and core air, hence making it very effective.

However, on high bypass engines you have cascade doors, which splits the cowling and directs the bypass air, so you still have some amount of forward thrust since the core air is not reversed  Smiley

I tried it on the Lancair Legacy and it worked (I wasn't sure if it was a bug or what).  Learn something new everyday!
