This was taken the day we got back from the Gulf ('91), a Chinook of 18 Sqn. You can't see it in this shot but there are little yellow camels painted just behind the cockpit for missions completed...
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

That dirty effect is mostly the old camouflage paint underneath coming through. If you look to the right of the shot you'll see the 'normal' look, this one has just had a layer of paint whacked over the top to help it blend in and be slightly less obvious than a turd on a billiard table

I never did understand why they painted bohemoth aircraft like the C-5 and C-141 in camoflauge...
Like someones really gonna go in the air... "Hehehe... You can't seee meee..."
