How do I open and modify .bmp's?  I can't seem to find a plugin for my Arcsoft Photostudio or anything else for that matter. Sad

I can only open the prop files and not anything else? ???

You need DXTBmp or Imagetool

DXTBmp: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm

Imagetool comes with FS 2002 Professional. I think it also comes with the Gmax Gamepack for FS 2004.

Gamepack: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where on the FS2k2 Pro discs ImageTool is?  I've been thinking about putting just that back on (like it better than DXTBmp) but I no longer have 2k2 on my system, just FS9.  Think it would work?

WTF!!! Ok, I got dtxbmp and all of the G-max gamepacks,  but if I save the image changed, the part of the aircraft that the .BMP applies to goes blank white, every damm time.  Is there a tutorial somewhere for this that I haven't found yet? Angry

Cvrt7.62Ghst. Download DXTBmp here. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
Read the instructions in DXPBmp Help. Basically, you open a texture in DXTBmp & send it to your graphics editor for repainting. Save your work then reload the edited texture into DXTBmp & save out in the appropriate FS Extended BMP format.

Scott. Imagetool is hidden away in the FS2002\gmax\Flightsim\gamepacks\FlightSim folder.
I find that DXTBmp does all I need.

Oh it definitely does everything I need, I just don't like the interface.  I got spoiled with the ease of ImageTool.  One thing I've found is that with DXTBmp, you have to remember the file name in  your head or when you go to save it you might save over another file!  lol  You only have to learn that lesson once. Wink

I suppose it's what you're used to. I dislike Imagetool & find DXTBmp so user-friendly, like all MW's utilities. The original file name & format are displayed at bottom left of the UI.

That's my feeling exactly.  It's all in what you get used to using.

I'm in the DXTBMP camp, because it has features i prefer, but have used imagetool in the past.

The filename is on the bottom of the DXTBMP window (at least in the version I have).   But, like Hyp...this doesn't make me imune to overwriting files! Grin  Been there, done that with both programs. Cheesy

...

Now if they would only turn off the mips option by default, I would be totally happy!  Sad
