Young man Murphy applied for an engineering position at an Irish
firm based in Dublin. An American applied for the same job and
both applicants having the same qualifications were asked to
take a test by the Department manager.
Upon completion of the test both men only missed one of the
questions. The manager went to Murphy and said, "Thank you for
your interest, but we've decided to give the American the job."
Murphy: "And why would you be doing that? We both got 9
questions correct. This being Ireland and me being Irish I
should get the job!"
Manager: "We have made our decision not on the correct answers,
but on the question you missed."
Murphy: "And just how would one incorrect answer be better than
the other?"
Manager: "Simple. The American put down on question # 5, 'I
don't know.' You put down 'Neither do I.'"

Did you hear about the Irishman who saw a billboard saying 'Drink Canada Dry', so he went.
And did.
Then there were the two Irishmen who thought they couldn't apply for jobs as lumberjacks, because the advertisement said 'tree fellers wanted.'

In reality a helicopter ejection seat would save a lot of lives. You just don't fire the seats out the top.
On a side note - these 'irish being dumb' jokes are an old british thing brought in by military intelligence during the famine in an effort to reduce sympathy. The 'military intelligence' were in the hands of the powerful english landlords who were given the land when being catholic rendered the irish no longer the owners of their own farms. The ploy failed however & thousands of good brits did what they could - albeit too late for 2 million. The jokes stuck though. -- kinda ironic in this day when the level of irishmen qualifying though university outrank the brits many times & are among the highest in the world

I've seen film of a helicopter ejection test, same idea as the rocket sleds for fixed wing aircraft but with rotors that are blown off prior to firing the seat 8)

That not a stupid idea. In fact, they are being developed for many American Helicopters.
