realistic traffic you say?
well, first of all, it's impossible for MS to have a photographer at every airport in the world (or at least every intl airport)! second, it would take too much time to add all the parking spaces and write all the realistic flightplans, if not, they'd added long time ago to the default sim. third, MS uses always airlines such as Landmark that doesn't exist in real life, simply because they don't get the rights from real airlines to use their logo and name. if they are going to use realistic AI, ProjectAI would be there for nothing.

also, writing flightplans and creating AI planes (like PAI does) are things we all can do, so why would MS spend time doing that? they'd better use the two years they have to create a new sim...not traffic!  Wink

But MS has like millions of dollars invested into MS, so where can they spend it to improve upon the sim.... The screney looks good, the weather looks good, but I personally HATE the ATC, and he AI.!!!! SO keep the scenery, or improve it a bit, and work on the ATC, and AI, and get right down to bisness Grin

I am somwhere I don't know where I am!!!&&

As I understand it this guy claimed to be working for M$. Who is to say that his research was for FS? It could have been for Encarta or a completely unrelated program.

Please note that I didn't say that I thought such practices SHOULD have such security measures applied ........ just that I thought in this day and age.... they would have.

Here in South Texas, I always get easy and unescorted access to my local airports whether I am shooting a movie or just for fun. I am sure it's a little different with bigger cities like Houston and Dallas.

On a side note, I am a volunteer at a local museum (www.texasairmuseum.com) and we recently had an inquiry by Microsoft asking us for permission to check out our FW190s for their upcoming sim. They wanted to do some measurements and gain other data from our planes. Sadly, we haven't heard a word since.

I would imagine that any kind of terrorist activity involving airports WOULD come from "outside the airport".  Easier to accomplish.  Don't have to directly get through the airport security setup.  So I would think that activity outside many airports is possibly monitored also for what might be possibly deemed "suspicious activity".

Ok that's enough of the conspiracy theories!! Come on!  Angry Not everyone is out to "get you" or terrorize the airport. BELIEVE ME: THIS GUYS WAS LEGIT! and even if he wasn't, WHO CARES becuase it is 100% Legal to Videotape aircrafts! so drop the Terrorist aspect. if he was a terrorist, I'd probably be DEAD and he would have drove around in the fire truck to get anywhere he wanted to.  Sorry to yell but I am just getting sick of everyone saying "oh did he have permission to be on the field, or jeeze he was a terrorist!!"  I just wanted everyone to get a little glimmer of hope in their minds that maybe they are activley looking to improve future versions!!!!!!!!!!  Roll EyesTHANKS
