On the news lastnight there was a lawyer who was attacked by a gunman right outside the courthouse with newscrews & police everywhere. It was all got on video too. Anyway, the laywer was shot point blank several times and he survived. The attacker then stuffed the gun into his bag and calmly walked away, but was then tackled by police.

Anyone see this on the news?

Yes, it was at the courthouse where a Robert Blake hearing was going on so there were camera crews everywhere.

I've seen these things on cheesy convenience store surveillance camera footage but never this quality of footage.

Very disturbing.

Strikes me the gunman was not only crazy but also a tad incompetent. If you're going to do it - at least get it right. LOL Roll Eyes

Sounds a bit like when Lee Harvey Oswald by that mobster while he was being lead to jail.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.   What gets me is that the camera man didn't do anything to stop the shooting or to get help.  All he did was film the act.  Which leads to the question is news sensationism worth a human like!?

i was wondering the same thing, he just walks past numerous cameramen after the act aswell, and they dont even try to stop him walking away.

yeah, seems everyone should have tackled him, although having a gun would have probably scared a lot of people off. But then again the guy might have emptied the chambers and didn't think to re-load, so it might have been safe.

But then maybe he had a round or two left in the gun?

But it all really depends on the type of gun Grin

This has often bothered me about the media. If the camerman stops to help he can't get the all-important pictures for his editor. They all pray for a scoop & this sort of thing is the ideal opportunity. If they didn't do it there's plenty to take their place & they would soon be out of a job. Maybe the others were too shocked to do anything about it. Who knows? It takes a certain type of person to do this type of work. It's not something I would be suited for. Roll Eyes

When I saw it, it was almost comical. A lawyer hiding behind a small  tree and a gunman shooting a gun like a water gun. Mind you, the reality is that someone was shot, and was VERY luck to have not been killed. As for the camera man who video taped it, I am sure he was scared poopless and just did his job, not that I agree with his non-involvement.

He could have set the focus, set it on his tripod in the direction, and then restrained the attacker, making himself even more famous Wink

Is shooting a lawyer a criminal offence? Heck sometimes they're worse than the criminals they represent!
I haven't seen the footage, but I've read the news, and my big question is "Was the gunman Mr. Magoo?"

Ozzy

Ps. This is a tongue-in-cheek observation and should not be taken seriously Grin
