I have a scenery with Italy on my CFS2, but i didnt have any runways on it. So i want to pout the Tarquinia and Pisa Airfields. But, i dunno how to do that. I allready created a "plan" for the runway and buildings, but when i play, there´s no floor and the buildings floats over my airplane, before it get of the groud! I need a help to solve those problems.
Thank you,

JP
PS: Sorry, my english is very poor...
PS2: How to insert static airplanes on a airfield? I want a C-47 and a especific P-47 model that i have. Any ideia?

Harpy. Go to the location in CFS2 Free Flight & choose a suitable area for your field. Hit Shift + Z to display the onscreen text. Use Slew mode (Y key) to move around. The Q key to raise the aircraft & F1 key will  place you back at ground level. Note the co-ords & altitude.

Set the FSSC Preferences for the sim you're using. Then enter the details you previously noted in Airport Properties. The runway at 0 feet will be at the same altitude as the airport.

Unless you wish to use the airfield in Free Flight or QC I suggest you keep it basic. Add static aircraft & buildings as mission objects rather than in the scenery itself. There is a way to convert existing aircraft into API macros. It might be best to leave this until you understand the basics.

PS. Oops sorry. I just noticed it's for CFS2. Use the Flat Area16N to create a flat area round your airfield. Using this method it's possible to "carve" the airfield out of the terrain. The key commands I mentioned are for the FS/CFS1 keyboard.

Problem soved Hagar, now i have a Tarquinia airfield. But i really want those statics planes.  Tell me... plz...
And that flat area. How i insert it? Its on the macros list? I solved the problem, by changing the airfield to a more leveled area. But the end of the runway hogs into the ground lol... Anyway, it´s better than nothing.

Thanks,
JP

Ps: Ops, how to make my airfield suitable in the Mission Builder?

OK. Flat area first. Select New Misc Object/Flat Area from the Right-click options. The Area16N (BGL) type should be selected by default. The Altitude should be the same as your airfield. Drag the points of the Flat Area to surround your airfield. You can add points as you wish. 4 will do to start with. It can tidied up later. The A16N Flat Area can be almost any shape with up to around 50 points. Use the Export Scenery Wizard to export the finished airfield, making sure the _A16N.bgl option is checked.

For the static aircraft try M98toBGL posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_scenery5.htm
Use it to create API macros from existing 3rd party aircraft. Import the API macros into FSSC. Simple FS98/CFS1 designs work best as static scenery objects.

My tute shows the basics for adding new airports to the MB database. http://www.simviation.com/lair/Scene2MbDb.html

PS. Once you have created your airfield it can be moved to another location by changing the Airport entries & co-ords in FSSC Scenery Properties. Remember to save the new field under a new name.

But it will work with CFS2 airplanes, didnt it?

M98toBGL is for the simpler FS98/CFS1 aircraft only. These make the best static scenery objects. There should be several suitable versions of the aircraft you need posted in the FS98 or CFS1 sections. It would be easy enough to repaint the textures if you wish.
You can try the later MDLtoBGL which might convert some CFS2 models. Not all aircraft will convert, even the simpler ones. http://www.avsim.com/hangar/utils/mdltobgl/id2.htm

I still think the best method is to have a basic airfield & add the static aircraft to missions in the MB. Any installed aircraft can be used as a mission object.

And i added all the info needed do ad the airfield to de MB, but when i start ir, and click on the airbases icon the program shut off... Problems, problems...

Harpy. Please slow down. You're making my head hurt. LOL

Let's take one thing at a time. Make sure the altitude of the Airfield & the Flat Area are the same. The runway should be at 0 (feet or meters). There's no point in adding the airfield to the MB database until you get this fixed.

Use a text editor (Notepad or Wordpad) to open airbases.dat. Please read my tute carefully.

More problems coming in... Im sure that everything i does, is exactly has its on your tutorial, but the tarquinia airfield only appear on the airbases list, but on the map, he doesnt exists. When i put the exactly coord, the plane stats on the water, in a diferent coord that i have put before. Well, i have succesfully added Italy has a new operational area. But the airfield, continues to do not appear on the map...
Sorry, but those things are very hard to do. Ive spent a lot of time on it...

OK. Zip up the SCN file for your new scenery & mail it to me. My e-mail is under my avatar. I'll try to figure it out. It's along time since I've messed with this stuff so no promises. I will also need to know exactly where to download the Italy terrain.

As I told you before, this is not a 5 minute job. Your first post in this topic is dated 2 days ago. It took me 6 months to figure out how to design a simple airport with Airport 2.1 when I first started. LOL
