Frame Rates ? (Read 143 times)

HI all, just wondering what frame rate i should set my game to....i get 27-30 when its locked at 30 but when i put it to unlimited im getting anything over 65  dont really understand what the setting should be on...i have most of my graphic settings turned up max.many thanks in advance for any help.
my system is
xp
1.8
512mb
gforce graphics card.

Sim_Man,

As a general rule, the higher you set the frame rate, the smoother the simulation will run.  However, this can also result in a drop in the overall quality of the display.  You may see a few less details.

I would not bother going any higher than 60 fps - there is a limit to what the human eye can detect.

I have also noticed that when you set to unlimited, or more than what the computer can actually produce, you can sometimes get a slight puase.  Like if I'm crusing along at 30 FPS and some added scenery, or AI planes come in to veiw that knock me down to 15 FPS, it will sometimes pause at the jump.  If I lock it to something lower, like 20 FPS, those transition freezes don't happen as often because it isn't constently changing frame rates.  At least that is all I can figure.  Just lets the computer work at a more consestent rate I guess, kind of like pacing yourself in a marathon.
