Since I'm too lazy to point out specific tutorials....
#1 - Do ALL the tutorials that come with gMax...
#2 - There are many relevant tutorials and/or links at
Freeflight Design Shop

I will be sure to try those tutorials. Are they suitable for a total newbie or is a/c dsign experience a must-have?

Pros were novices before they got good at at designing. You should read all these tutes well and ask the people here at the forums, we'll be glad to help. And remember, Gmax is not a very easy program to work with and it will take much time to master

Like Oz says - all designers were newbies at one time.
The only way to get good is plunging in, practicing, playing with the program and asking questions.
