Everytime you start FS2k2 the plane is on the runway with the engines and everyting but the lights on. Why doesn't Fs2k2 start you at the Gate with everything off and let you go through the sequences like a real airliner would! They take the fun out of the simulation.

Secondly I hate when you fly to your destination and request directions to a gate and the way point lines direct you to a empty area that is no where close to a building to represent a gate. That is what really pisses me off!

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any files I can download that will create this atmosphere for me!  Grin

When you create a flight, you can choose which runway, gate, ramp, parking space, etc you want to start at. Once you create a flight, shut everything off and save it so when you load that flight you're already at the gate with everything shut off.

For cold starts, download the cold start gauge here!

Ozzy, I downloaded that gauge but found it annoying because on touchdown when landing, it shuts everything in the aircraft off. And then re-start everything to taxi off the runway and to your parking space Roll Eyes

Why don't you just put you're plane where you want it, turn of the engines and save the flight?
Problem solved.

When speedbird says save it he means make your start flight your default flight so that the game always starts just the way you left it.

Shocked Now that's what I am talking about! Thanks guys! I didn't know you could do that! It is so much easier this way then having to drive your plane at every start up to the nearest gate and shutting everything down to pretend to load passengers and start up and go with the ATC.

You guys here are really sharp, I find this site very useful in resolving my FS2k2 issues! This is like the 2th time you guys helped me out thanks.

I'll go weeks without creating a new flight to fly somewhere. I just load my flight and start where I left off

Yes, I'm with all above. You can have your simulator start up however you want. Just set the location, the aircraft and even time and weather, save it as the Default flight, and there you go, you are where you are!! EXAMPLE: If you want to fly from one location to another as if you were "flying across North America with stop-overs" and you wanted to land because you were getting  tired (cheater!) and it was time for bed (haha), then you could land your aircraft, go to your gate, shut down your aircraft and now, SAVE FLIGHT and MAKE DEFAULT FLIGHT.  This way next time you start  FS2002, you are where you left off. Thus, your engines should be off and your aircraft will be at the gate, (that is if that's how you left it!)
Now it's time to start those engines back up and taxi to your runway!!  Have fun and happy flying Grin

Well my post is after you got your answers, Mav, but I thought I would add my 2 cents!! Cheesy
