I would like to build a base for my squadron that is accessable when flying with my squad on the zone.
First should I build a base from scratch, what software? or use a pre-built base and modify if neccesary, what software? Once I have created the base in the appropriate scenery area how do others access it when on the zone? Do they have to download the scenery area with base first? Any help with this would be most appreciated.

Use Airport 2.60. This is a basic scenery design program which starts you out building a runway and then you can put 3d objects around them. You can also do ground textures but nothing fancy like mesh scenery. It's advisable to collect some macros (3d objects) from various sites as the ones in airport are a little lame! Some of them may not show up as they were designed for FS 2000 or 2002, they don't always specify this. To start, try the ones on H squad site.
www.navyair.com
and this site of course.

I have to disagree with the airport ( And Pam Anderson) thing. Go and d/l FSSC from
http://fssc.avsim.net/
. It may be harder to learn, but Its mega compatible for macros and for newer fs's. Go on, you know you want to!

Its not that hard to learn it. Its mainly click on a iccon then click a point and move, simple as that.

I've used both Airport and FSSC and found them both very useful and not too difficult to get my head around once I got stuck into them.
I think in the end I developed a preference for FSSC. One of the reasons for this was the relative ease of creating landable areas on carriers and roof tops. Also very easy to add all sorts of navigation aids, radio beacons, etc., for ADF, VOR and ILS. Saying that, Airport allowed me to use Martin Wright's moving fuel truck macro, while I never got it to work in FSSC.
If you are making CFS1 bases, I would also recommend getting hold of Matthias Brückner's EOD (Easy Object Designer) - this will allow you to create your own scenery objects/macros -
http://www.echos.ch/eod/
CFS1 doesn't like complex objects - you get a lot of texture bleed through - but for straight forward 'solid' buildings it's great and really is easy to use.
There's another tool that will allow you to create macros from aircraft in your Aircraft folder, too - but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. I'll dig about and let you know.
Martin Wright's ready made CFS1 macros are good, too:
http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
and so are Mike Rennie's:
http://www.spuds-sceneries.com/
Best of luck with this - it's time consuming but great fun!
It's a while since I did any CFS1 scenery, but I'd be glad to help if I can - drop me a line - the two I completed are available at:

~S~ (Again)
The program for converting aircraft in your Aircraft folder for use as static objects in your scenery is called M98tobgl, but I can't locate it on the web anymore (well, it is 4 years old...)
I think I've got a copy on my old laptop - let me know if you'd like it and I'll dig it out.

It's posted right here at SimV.

I would have joined the discussion earlier but I've never played online.
