All three individuals aboard — a flight instructor, a private pilot and a passenger — were able to exit the airplane unharmed.

Although the flight instructor later suffered almost fatal embarrassment  Roll Eyes

That is absolutely inexcusable. The flight instructor and the private pilot
should turn in there licences.

Stupid.. Stupid.. Stupid! Angry

This is one of those things that (No matter what!) should NEVER happen.
EVER!

I swear.. It's like the aviation world is getting as bad as the trucking world,
They'll  let anybody drive a truck or fly a plane these days!

Three miles... I'm not sure, but I think he would've been able to glide in had he been making a normal (for us Texans) approach.

If the engine doesn't start, check the master switch. True story.

Running out of fuel continues to top the list of general aviation accidents, seems like some people never learn...
