Grin  I just thought someone has to start this silly rumor that will cost BILLIONS of dollars world wide

Ignorance its expensive, isn't it ?

while people are colliding antimatter with matter and finding out the higgs boson others are attached to the 17 or 16 century old civilization's thoughts ,the same one who kills thousands of their own people dropping them from a long stairs , because of their gods  Roll Eyes

My personal opinion is simple:

All the worry in the world will not change the outcome of anything (some people will recognize this paraphrase).  Smiley

How many people have had their worlds come to an end throughout history from wars, various conflicts, disease, natural disasters and every other manner of death? Any of us can die and have our worlds cut short at anytime. Death is something every living being on this planet will eventually experience.

So if it is to end on Dec 21st or when ever it may occur; there is absolutely nothing you can do or say to prevent it. If it is my fate to die in a world wide disaster on the 21st; so be it. All I ask is to be with my wife and cuddle with her until the end.

It's amazing what people will believe. There's been doomsday predictions for 1,000's of years. So far everyone has been wrong.

I really got a kick out of that old man a few years ago that had calculated the end of the world. The day came and went and the world was still here. Then he says, "Oops, I miscalculated and it will end on this date." That date came and went and here we all are. It amazes me that people were stupid enough to believe that crackpot not once, but twice....  Shocked

Like the great philosopher Forrest Gumps momma said, "Stupid it as stupid does!"  Roll Eyes

Not to mention those quotes listed below in my signature section....  Wink

It better end is all I gotta say!  I bought all kinds of luxury items on 9/22 using the "90 Days Same-As-Cash" option....

....a 90" flat-screen 3D T.V., Bang & Olufsen audio system to go with it, 90-day deference on payments on a Chevy Corvette, a Cray supercomputer, daily gourmet meal delivery, daily Swedish massages (in home) by a Swedish hottie (you know how those "end" Kiss).....

If I wake up on 12/22 I gotta change my appearance and flee to a country that does not have an extradition treaty! Shocked

Ya know what gets me, these "doomsday preppers", they put all there money in these

"Under Ground" bunkers. What they fail to consider is, well.. if an astoroid hits, they

will be buried alive. If we have these floods they been talking about, they could be under

hundreds of feet of water. Either way, it could end up being there tomb!

Oh, and this whole Dec.21 date thing, Did the Mayan's include leap-years in there

Calendar? Huh

No, they were using the old lunar calendar. I believe this was changed in the 1500's.  Undecided

I don't know.. I think it would be kind of an honer to die as a result
of an "Extinction Level Event".

One of the biggest fears about dieing is that you go on that journey
all by your self.. all alone.

Somehow it don't seem so bad if everyone is going at the same time.

From my understanding, this is only supposed to end the current 'cycle' of the world (nor was this the first cycle); since the script ends with no further ado, we've no idea of another cycle. We might also bear in mind that the vast majority of Mayan writings were intentionally destroyed centuries ago. As to whether or not they had any prediction of the Spanish invasion, who knows; the Aztecs believed they, themselves, had so predicted the white intruders with the arrival of Quetzelcoatl Cortez -- oh, my (white) God!
As to those you've mentioned that claim to be of certain affiliation, their own 'written source' disclaims having such knowledge of the event. Similarly, science indicates that the world, as we know it, will end... sometime...

The Mayan calendar essentially rolls over Friday, similar to the way an odometer turns over on your car and shows a series of zeroes, according to NASA. It signifies the end of a large cycle of time, a bit more than 394 years, that the Mayans called a "baktun."

How did the end of a baktun turn into doomsday? Who knows. Even the modern Mayan people don't buy it, and say they're looking forward to the dawn of a new baktun, a new era, according to CNN.

That's a bummer.. I don't drink anymore. Back in my day (Drinking Days) the party on a

night like tonight would have been Epic. And then tomorrow would come.. no money.. no

cigarettes.. sometimes no pants.. and then in a hungover haze Cheesy I would have to look for

the car.. then I would find the car out back with mud caked up under the back bummper.

then once I find the car, my pants (in my pants theres a smashed up pack of smokes with 5

or 6 cigarettes left) then I find 8 bucks on the floormat of my car Grin then I would think, wait

a minute... I didn't even drive my car last night! Undecided What The!...

I don't miss it!  I have to say though, I do have some good memories from those days

with some old friends that have passed on since then, that I wouldn't give up for anything.

Anyway, The morel of this story, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!! Smiley

My (German) wife refers to the History Channel as the "Hitler" Channel. Every time we channel surf for something to watch, any short stop at the History Channel seems to involve hoards of goose stepping troops, tiger tanks storming across France or newly discovered colour film of Adolf relaxing in a Bavarian castle between invasions.............

actually Mandy I mean Matt  Tongue
I think this type of real history facts are very good ,I was one of many perhaps who didn't knew about the cruelty of the  world war II and how far/dark it really was

Its funny to see how many monsters of today repeat same tactics of monsters of the past to keep control over millions today ,they all use this manual step by step Wink

,I have learn a lot of thing of world History due to this channel  , But I hate the way they being changing they original purpose (history) into a wizards/prophecies/curst and being squeezing all this stupid rumor bringing more ignorance instead of teaching real facts

they becoming the alarmist Channel

Aaaaah!!! Like programs declaring all human technology -- and humans, themselves -- come from extra-terrestrials! I'm neither denying nor verifying an extra-terrestrial creative relationship since the Earth would have to have existed before anything else for it to be definitely otherwise; that not being true, interaction with much of the rest of the universe would be extra-terrestrial. However, much of this, for all of these shows, is just to present a program by which those involved can continue to provide themselves a payroll.

The media likes to create the hype to lure us in and keep the money coming in.

As I lay in bed this Saturday morning, contemplating the World around me, (as I do), I considered what would mean the End of the World, as I know it, for me...
...and delving back in time, to my recollection of the roads in and around my Town in the 1940's and early 1950's, during my excursions on my various Motor-cycles, when the only traffic consisted of just myself and a couple of Austin 7's and Morris 8's...

The End of the World for me now, would be when the volume of the local traffic equals, or exceeds, the total population of my Town, and the whole City becomes one gigantic, stationary, traffic jam, which is rapidly approaching...

As I made my way, gingerly, through the frantic Xmas motorised shopping rush yesterday on my Motor-bike, consisting of motor vehicles in all directions, mostly stationary, and effectively going nowhere, I came to the conclusion that the End of the World for me is very, very Nigh!... Shocked...!

... Grin... Grin... Grin...!

I'll tell you what, @H...

I finally abandoned my travel by motor-car in 1990, when I locked up my 1982 Austin Allegro 1.5 HL in my garage, and threw the key away, to transfer to the only other method of effective transportation; eg: 2-wheels.
Without my Motorcycles, there would be no way of negotiating my way through the endless traffic jams which exist ever day on my local roads.

I often watch the live Traffic Cams on the various Interstate Highways (I5/I101) in North America (Los Angeles), and its a nightmare!

What a congested World it has become, since my Father's days, (B1900), and mine (B1934)...!

I often watch the live Traffic Cams on the various Interstate Highways (I5/I101) in North America (Los Angeles), and its a nightmare!

What a congested World it has become, since my Father's days, (B1900), and mine (B1934)...!

Well, maybe we're barking up the wrong tree but it doesn't seem to be a total EoW... however, I'd say someone's world has been truncated...

One important thing that I had forgotten, (for the first time), with all this frantic talk about the end of the World, was the fact that the 21st of December was also the shortest day of the year, and from the 22nd of December onwards, until June the 21st, the days gradually get longer as we leave the darkness of Winter behind!

...thank goodness!

Even in my lifetime NH roads have quite increased their traffic.
My remaining uncle is more than two years younger than you and my oldest cousin, who doesn't consider me in her generation (I'm not social generation-wise but she's my 1st cousin; nearly a two-score span in my generation), is a bit older than you (b. January, 1934); both have noted the changes in their lifetime; my uncle has frequently comment on how "soft" people are today as to their complaints.

I have recalculated the date the earth ends.  It will be June 30, 2013 (she's already at 3 months) when this demon spawn is born.
