As I lay in bed this Saturday morning, contemplating the World around me, (as I do), I considered what would mean the End of the World, as I know it, for me...
...and delving back in time, to my recollection of the roads in and around my Town in the 1940's and early 1950's, during my excursions on my various Motor-cycles, when the only traffic consisted of just myself and a couple of Austin 7's and Morris 8's...

The End of the World for me now, would be when the volume of the local traffic equals, or exceeds, the total population of my Town, and the whole City becomes one gigantic, stationary, traffic jam, which is rapidly approaching...

As I made my way, gingerly, through the frantic Xmas motorised shopping rush yesterday on my Motor-bike, consisting of motor vehicles in all directions, mostly stationary, and effectively going nowhere, I came to the conclusion that the End of the World for me is very, very Nigh!... Shocked...!

I don't know, Foz, I should think that it's all transitory for you -- most of your journey seems to go with cycles...

... Grin... Grin... Grin...!

I'll tell you what, @H...

I finally abandoned my travel by motor-car in 1990, when I locked up my 1982 Austin Allegro 1.5 HL in my garage, and threw the key away, to transfer to the only other method of effective transportation; eg: 2-wheels.
Without my Motorcycles, there would be no way of negotiating my way through the endless traffic jams which exist ever day on my local roads.

I often watch the live Traffic Cams on the various Interstate Highways (I5/I101) in North America (Los Angeles), and its a nightmare!

What a congested World it has become, since my Father's days, (B1900), and mine (B1934)...!

Paul... Shocked...!

Well, I looked outside just now to be sure it all was still there and me and my stuff wasn't floating in outer space, so I guess I'll have to ante up for my income taxes come April.

Soooo, when is the next End of the World alert?

(Hmm, what do I do with all this food I hoarded?)

Well, maybe we're barking up the wrong tree but it doesn't seem to be a total EoW... however, I'd say someone's world has been truncated...

One important thing that I had forgotten, (for the first time), with all this frantic talk about the end of the World, was the fact that the 21st of December was also the shortest day of the year, and from the 22nd of December onwards, until June the 21st, the days gradually get longer as we leave the darkness of Winter behind!

...thank goodness!

Paul.... Smiley...!

Even in my lifetime NH roads have quite increased their traffic.
My remaining uncle is more than two years younger than you and my oldest cousin, who doesn't consider me in her generation (I'm not social generation-wise but she's my 1st cousin; nearly a two-score span in my generation), is a bit older than you (b. January, 1934); both have noted the changes in their lifetime; my uncle has frequently comment on how "soft" people are today as to their complaints.

I have recalculated the date the earth ends.  It will be June 30, 2013 (she's already at 3 months) when this demon spawn is born.
