Wondering if others have tried this 'tree removal' software.  It supposedly removes trees from the immediate runway area, especially approach and departure ends.  According to the 'Readme', it enters the Scenery Library via the Scenery Addon folder - haven't been able to get that to happen yet  Smiley.

I've just downloaded the file to check it out. Haven't tried it yet. According to the instructions you activate it from the Scenery Library like any other 3rd party scenery.

I get to the box at the bottom - D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\LessTrees and hit OK, expecting it to show as a new line in Scenery Library but nothing.

Make sure it's configured correctly. When you extract Agexcl3x.zip you should have a folder named Agexcl3x containing a Scenery subfolder. (The Scenery subfolder contains 74 BGL files.) Paste the Agexcl3x folder into your FSX\Addon Scenery folder & activate it from the Scenery Library in the usual way.

I activated it to check it out. Not sure which airport to test it on so I tried a small local airstrip. I didn't notice any difference with trees so I took off & flew around for a while. Then FSX crashed for no apparent reason. I don't know if this was caused by the addon or not.

PS. I'm sure you already know this but I'll mention it anyway. If you have Windows 7 there's an extra step involved in activating scenery. http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/topic/6035-how-to-add-scenery-to-fsx-with-wi...

Thanks for the effort Hagar.  Still an XP person but think I'll pass - doesn't seem worth the potential agony.

I think it's worth a try. You can always deactivate it if you have problems. I found an airport with trees on the runway to check it out properly.

This is MZBZ (Belize City airport) with the Agexcl3x scenery deactivated.
...

I then paused FSX & activated it. Voila!
...

Now you see them, now you don't! Wink

Did you have any more crashes Doug? If it's not the program, I might try it.

Edited:
Never mind. As Dave said, nothing ventured....Roll Eyes
I went ahead and got it and I am glad. I've had my Victoria Intl scenery turned off for months due to a large forest all over the airport. Now the closest tree is well beyond the airport proper. Wish I had known about this neat little package months ago. Smiley

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

No more crashes Larry. Not that I've used FSX much since trying it.

It's a neat little package. I hope olderndirt managed to activate it.

Thanks Doug. Smiley
Yes, it is. And so far, I have had no trouble with it at all. And I just went through a session that gave it a very good opportunity to crash, if it was going to. Now if I could just find a way to narrow down whatever scenery/mesh is causing me problems. I've been through the whole batch, turning them off one at a time and still have not found the culprit. Fortunately, it is not affecting very much area that I like to fly in. But there are a few that are completely unusable, like Lukla. It's either spikes, mountains, or deep holes in the middle of the airport and/or surrounding area. I was able to reduce it by leaving a couple turned off, but not able to completely stop it. And since it does not show up everywhere, I have no way of knowing when it started. It had probably been around for a while before I first ran across it. And I am unwilling to go through a complete re-install at this point. Just too much work involved.
