Hello Chums... Wink...!

My lovely Payware "Registry Mechanic" from PC Tools has suddenly gone belly-up...(don't ask)... Cry...and I wonder if anyone can recommend a good replacement?... Roll Eyes... Kiss...!

My Registry Mechanic was always finding lots of faults every time I ran it!

(At the moment I am using "Eusing Registry Cleaner" from Snap Files).

Any suggestions?.... Smiley...!

Paul...Registered Insane... Cheesy...!

EasyCleaner 2.0 has a built in registry cleaner. Don't download the latest version as you have to pay for it!

Ta, Mark...

You just reminded me, I had it on my old Win XP HDD, and forgot all about it, after using Registry Mechanic for years!

From a previous Post, I am having so many regular problems due to Computer freezing, that I installed Win 7 in the hope of curing it....
...and following various suggestions on the 'Net, ran a Registry Cleaner in the hope of curing it...
...no such luck....its still doing it... Cry....(hardware problem?).

Its a mystery to me...no overheating problems, etc...just random freezes!

Bl**dy annoying!... Cry...!

Paul...Frozen in Time... Roll Eyes...!

The screen display locks up solid, the keyboard and mouse are disabled....requiring me to reset the Computer...while I am in the middle of something... Angry...!

CCleaner doesn't clean your registry. However it is superb for general housekeeping Wink

CCleaner does clean your registry, just not as good as Eusing.

It compacts it, doesn't seem to remove anything. Trust me I've tried experiments with both EasyCleaner and Registry Mechanic after using CCleaner and they find tonnes of stuff that needs doing!

Registry Mechanic was marvellous for day-to-day registry clean-up. Used it for years!....

When my Win XP Pro HDD went belly-up a few days ago, and I lost it, attempts at re-installing it/registering it, falls on deaf ears now....
...the usual (Annual) registration problems... Roll Eyes...!

Paul... Wink... Cool....!

Try this:
http://www.glarysoft.com/products/utilities/registry-repair/

I've been using it for quite sometime with no problems and it seems to do the job.

Its amazing just how many errors in the Registry, etc, crop-up after every program installation, un-installation, additions, alterations, modifications, generally fiddling around, etc... Shocked....and they all accumulate over time!.... Cry....!

....so a very frequent run of Registry Cleaners throughout the day is a; "very good idea"... Wink.... Grin...!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004... Cool...!

Hey Fozzer, Here's an interesting article I just read that might interest you regarding Registry cleaning:

http://techtalk.pcpitstop.com/2010/11/09/should-i-use-a-registry-cleaner/

He makes some valid points but then it ends with him pitching their product, which I didn't like. So is the whole article a lead-up to that ?  Not sure. Undecided
I'll continue using Glarys Utilities along with CCleaner.

A fascinating read..... Wink... Wink...!

Comical about what it says about; "Trial Versions" of Registry Cleaners...
...you run them, and they tell you that; "You have 10 Zillion errors on you computer. Now give us loadsamoney and purchase our product and we will get rid of all of them for you".... Kiss...!
.... Grin....!

NAH!...I don't fink so!... Grin... Grin...!

So there you go, everyone seems to like; "C Cleaner" (which I have), and my copy of; "Glary Registry Repair" seems to be doing its job wonderfully!... Smiley...!
...and no problems that I am aware of.. Smiley...!

Paul....Temporary Internet Files?....Toasted!.... Grin...!
