I'd like to see that too, same could be said of several teams. The SEC to be honest though is in a bit of a slump, Tenn, LSU, Florida and Auburn are all rebuilding, they showed signs of brilliance last season, but its at least a year or two before the SEC is a real formidable division again.

I could see Boise State being in the Pac-10. They even said most of the recruits they get are from California. I dont see why they shouldnt be in the Pac-10? Then they'll be playing good teams- Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Cal...

And in other news....Reggie Bush to get stripped of his 2005 Heisman...
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jw2Aa0DoTvWsU544CQIP23xLZ-1wD9...

I think this is stupid. I like what how they punished USC and I think its fair. I dont think its right to take away a Heisman Trophy just because he was getting stuff from USC to be on there team and money etc...It's one thing if you cheat or use performance enhancing drugs but this wasnt the case and I feel like taking away Heisman Trophy isnt worth it. Everything that USC gave Reggie Bush didnt make him a better RB than the other contenders for Heisman. But thats just my thought.

Was it USC who gave him those things or an independant agent, which I thought??
Either way, I agree, I dont see how any of that deserves taking away from him what he did on the field. Fact is, he went out there week in and week out putting his body and career on the line to earn those rewards.
I've always found it hypocritcal how they work anyway. A player cant accept gifts or money for playing in college, yet every year bowl game players get lumped with thousands off $'s worth of gifts and merchandise they are then expected to carry around and market during the bowl build up. Just like week after week they are expected to be walking billboards for specific sports companies having to wear officially approved attire. These are kids being used to sell stuff, all the while being expected to spend their time studying or practicing, while not getting anything in return.

I think that it was both USC and an agent. Although I totally agree with you, I think the University should be punished if they were using stuff to recruit him because then it makes all the other colleges out there have a lower shot at getting him.

But an award given to a player for how well they did ON the field should not be taken away for rewards he got off the field and when your probably giving a college student the offer to have all those goodies and such, its hard for him to turn it down...at least for me it would be if I was in his shoes. Saban: Ingram probably won't play

Quote:
Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that he doesn’t anticipate Heisman Trophy running back Mark Ingram playing Saturday against Penn State.

Saban said Ingram is progressing well from his arthroscopic knee surgery, but that it would be too soon to rush him back out there this weekend without any practice.

It’s not a big surprise that Ingram won’t be out there, certainly not to those inside the Alabama program. The plan all along was to proceed with caution and be absolutely sure he was 100 percent.

And while Ingram may be available to play some against Duke next week, it may be the Arkansas game on Sept. 25 before he’s back in the lineup getting extensive carries.

There’s no reason for the Crimson Tide to gamble with Ingram, not with Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy holding things down while he’s gone.

If the Tide are going to make a run at another national title, they’re going to need Ingram at his best during that stretch drive.

They can beat beat Penn State and Duke without him.

I think LAcy is still the big question mark for Alabama. Is he that good, or was it just San Jose's defence?
If he is that good, I think Ingram needs to get back soon or he could find his carries and draft stock drop like a stone.

With Ingram being out this long, I don't think he will be repeating his H-Man this year.  He may be a contender but I don't think he will get enough field time to rack up the points to get the votes.   Undecided

Missing two weeks will make it extremely hard for him to get a Heisman...unfortunately...i'd be more worried about getting him back on the field than a Heisman

Hopefully he's fine by week 3

According to Saban, he would be fine this week but they don't want to gamble ruining him further, we'll try Lacy against a tougher opponent and go from there.

I guess they shouldnt gamble to ruin him..makes sense but then its making it harder on him to get the Heisman. Although I doubt thats really on his mind, id rather see him come back healthy than get injured worse.

What I find funny is that everyone has completely forgotten about McElroy. He's unbeaten as a starter since high school. He put up big number last year while only giving up 4 int's last year, and he's looking better this year. Yet no talk of him for the Heisman. He's playing in a pro style offense not some gimmick set, and all this despite two RB's who look set to be 1st or 2nd round picks.
