Back to Europe.
Perhaps one of the more boring races we can expect. Made worse after the incredible race we had at Montreal.
Major upgrades expected for several teams could change the pecking order.

Entries in by start of qualifying please.

Maybe not, it is reported that the tyres will be the same, super soft and hard.

Not for this race. Its super soft and medium. Which is the same. Hockenheim will be the first trial of 2 steps in the tyres. Too little to late i fear. The track played a big part in the reason the tyres struggled. It was resurfaced in places they didn't expect, and because it was so smooth and dirty the tyres just couldn't grip. It was like driving in the rain.

I got up awfully early to watch this third practice, and Speed isn't even covering it.  Angry

At least there is still the live timing from the F1 site.

Anyone know of a site accessible to yanks that have live video?

I'm comfortable with my picks.

Shane. P2 is the best idea for quali pace. P3 is usually used by the quicker teams for race setup and they do more shorter runs in p2.

I'm happy with mine, I just thought for sure after P2,
that Kubica was going to at least start in the top 3 or 4,
especially with the way Hamilton had run in all three sessions,
so it really surprised me that Hamilton did as well as he did in qualifying.

Something kept telling me to take Hamilton over Kubica, and I should have listened to myself.  Wink

I think the biggest surprise was Mercedes GP. Thought they had an improved package, seems like they took a step backwards?  I can understand Schumi not qualifying that great, considering he has never driven on the Valencia circuit, but Rosberg? Undecided

Good to see Williams making it to the top 10, they needed that boost in confidence. Smiley

Less than 1 hour till race start. Cool

Woah, massive accident involving Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen at over 200mph, both drivers are fine. Webber's car got airborne and flipped before crashing into the tyre barriers. Shocked

Should produce some lively debate as to fault. On a brighter not, best overtake of the whole race, Kobayashi getting past F1's professional whinger on the last lap and then to add Buemi on the last corner. Alonso spent more time complaining about other drivers that racing. Also adds more safety car questions, is the white line part of the pit lane or the race track. Seems that Hamilton was rather unsure. And finally, if you are too fast to the pits you get a penalty and just for good measure, if you are too slow we will have you too. You will need a masters degree to understand this sport business soon.

The delta times were brought in because people were whinging about the fact that lining up behind the safety car then pitting was unfairly penalising drivers.
I'm rather annoyed because if Alonso had just bothered to drive flat out instead of moaning about hamilton, I'd be looking at a 30 point haul today if the penalties issued are time penalties. Oh well, great move by Kobayashi.

As for Webber/Kovi. I dont think anyone is at fault, Webber tried to get a tow, Kovi's top speed was quite clearly a lot lower than Webber was expecting at he hit him. Since they were fighting for position its hard to fault anyone. I would say this is perfect ammo for those not wanting to see these stupid rules next year with the rear wing changes and KERS back. Thats the sort of closing speeds we'll see down the grid.

He showed some of what got him that seat in the first place, after driving for toyota last year. About time to, great bit of driving to.

And once again the FIA and their stewards have decided to bring about a farce penalty.  Those 9 drivers under investigation for the delta time problems have been given a 5 second penalty.
The problem with that, is that no-where in the FIA rule book does it state they can give a 5 second penalty. It's either a 20 second penalty in lieu of a drive through or 30 seconds if it would have been a stop/go penalty.
Once again this just stinks of a poorly run system. Not wanting to bring up old situations, but in the schumi monaco incident, the FIA admitted their rules were too unclear, and yet gave schumi a 20 second penalty, if they can just suddenly pull times out their backsides like these 5 second ones, I dont understand why they couldn't have given michael a time penalty that would have dropped him back behind Alonso. Roll Eyes
They are just unbelieveable at times.

Shane, have you tried a proxy server and then the BBC sport. I believe that the stream the race on-line. This is what I did when ITV had the TV contract. German adverts are an average of seven minutes long, it was infuriating, you missed so much.

I searched like a mad man.  Grin  Wink

Most of my results came back as either not available in the US, or pay a ton of money for a subscription.

I'm not too worried yet, so far this season, this has been the only race not shown live.  I'm just really confused as to why Speed Channel didn't cover it.
Instead, they were showing some Billy Mays commercials.  Angry

If it happens again though, I may buy one of those subscriptions.   Grin Wink

Could just be a coincidence that you had no coverage for this round. Wait and see if you get coverage for the next. If you get nothing then I would have my suspicions.

It was shown on Fox to increase ratings for F-1 coverage and give Speedtv free advertising.  Fox owns Speed, and speed has a contract to show 4 races on Fox. Canada was on fox last week and wasn't shown on speed untill tuesday.  My Dvr did not record the race on fox because I have it set to record it on speed so I missed the race entirely untill it was shown on speed on tuesday.  I managed to avoid knowing who the winner was untill then.  Just remember, it doesn't kill you to be on the computer less Grin

Plan on seeing the British and German GP's on Fox around noon eastern.

Although I do miss the days where the F1 race would be shown on speed or fox live, then a replay later in the day.  Those were the days when Speed would broadcast cool things on a regular basis like open wheel ladder series', karting, DTM, BTCC, WTCC, Trans Am, SCCA events, V-8 Supercar, and of course: F-1 Decade (playing F-1 races from 10 years ago, which would be sooo cool now)

At least they could have shown the 1979 Daytona 500 where Yarborough and Allison were trying to bash each others faces in.  Thats real NASCAR:  real stock cars and real pissed off drivers and fewer commercials for impotent men.
