I'm planning to get one accu-sim warbird, but I can only chose the P-51 or P-47. I can only get one and i already have a good spitfire.
So.............P-47 or P-51?Which one shall it be?YOU DECIDE
I'm looking for top handling, most forgiveness, ease of flying, best visibility, bla, bla, bla. Is there any difference in features for both?Does the 51 have more features than the 47?I want to know everything.
I like the lines of the 51 but love the R2800 of the 47...........

P-47 has a radial...you already have a Merlin powered bird..why not give the radials some love?

There is something about that big 'ol war horse that is just memorizing...maybe it is the 8-9 TON MTOW... or maybe it is the 2800 cubic inches of 18 cylinder power...or maybe it is the smooth flight characteristics
The P-51 is a great flying airplane, but if one is to be shot at...the P-47 is the one to be in

I'm sorry to be late, because you didn't make the right choice for your Accusim bird.
The P-51 was the best choice, according to your criteria.
The P-47 is very difficult to fly. It's also the most rewarding. It's very heavy, which makes takeoffs difficult, especially with a lot of fuel. The engine management is also more complex due to the lack of automatic systems. Landings are also more difficult due to the weight of the plane and the lack of forward visibility. And finally, the Accusim system embedded with the P-47 is not as complete as the P-51: you don't have a maintenance hangar to visualize your engine, and you can only repair everything at once. You cannot repair just this or that organ, you have to get a totally new plane everytime you break anything, which is quite frustrating.
Don't get me wrong, the P-47 with Accusim is a fantastic addon, way ahead of any other warbird made by any other addon maker. However, it greatly suffers from the comparison with the Mustang.
The Mustang, just like the Spitfire and the P-40, has the most recent version of Accusim. The maintenance hangar let's you see the aircraft and engine in details, with the various organs names appearing in green/yellow/red according to their wear/damage. You can replace them one by one without having to fly a factory-new bird everytime.
Also, for the handling, the Mustang is way more easy to control than the P-47. You get a better forward vision, the plane is lighter and more reactive, landings are more easy too. For the engine, there are some automatic thingies (just like in the real plane) that will take care of your intercooler and cowl flaps. There are other interesting features that cannot be found in the P-47.
If you wanted to have ONE Accusim warbird, then the Mustang, the Spitfire or the P-40 would have been the best choices....
That being said, I own ALL of the Accusim planes, and the P-47 is getting as much flying hours as my Mustang or P-40, because I love it and it provides approximatively the same level of immersion than the newest ones (the P-47 is one of the first Accusim birds that A2A made).... and honnestly, after testing this P-47 and seeing what Accusim means, you probably won't resist much before buying the other Accusim warbirds too

If you don't have Accusim, then the engine hanlding is no more complex than the default Cessna. Blue smoke is there just because a blue smoke effect is attached to the model, nothing else. Oil etc.... your plane doesn't even know what it is if Accusim is not installed. The smoke is here just to be pretty.
And thanks for the info about the P-51. I didn't know you already had it with Accusim, I thought you didn't know what Accusim was. In that case, then yes the 47 was a very good choice. You should take Accusim for it too, because even though it's not as complete as the Mustang's Accusim, it's still bringing the major stuff for engine handling. And a P-47 without its engine is not really a P-47

All radials smoke on start-up. The bigger the radial the more smoke.

Do you have the "auto mixture" option turned ON in the Realism options of the simulator ?
If yes, turn it OFF.

Yes, but I found the problem. It happens right after i load up the sim.It goes away if I turn off the engine and properly start it up.I guess it's the sim. This is certainly a good aircraft.Comparing an ai Cessna to it on the taxiway you can really see the difference.

The P-47 is huuuuuge ! I love it
The start sequence is a challenge everytime. I always need 2 tries before the engine actually starts. Most of the times, I don't prime it enough...
