Welcome anyway in here, Russell.

Dont think you can do it, fsx will go pause when you put it on desk. You may have it running half screen when turning off full screen, but remember it takes memory.

Hi, I recently installed FSX acceleration on my Dell laptop running windows 7. Is there any way that I could run fsx (actually keep flying, not just pause) while, say, browsing on another window? This comes in handy while doing homework.

On my FS 2004, if I "Minimise" the Sim, (Windowed Mode), it will drop down into my Task Bar and continue flying, whilst I do other things. (Just check your Autopilot altitude!).
I just click on it again to return back.

Alternatively...Menu > Options > Settings > General > Pause on Task Switch...uncheck!

Paul....FS 2004... Cool...!

Sorry Zaph...still haven't resolved you resolution problem... Roll Eyes...!

My FSX does not pause when I switch to window mode........push Alt+Enter to switch back and forth Wink

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Russell,

In FSX goto Settings>General. Find the line 'Pause on task switch', and remove the check mark next to the line.

Thanks Hagar.
I did find the same recommendation in my search for a solution. To be honest I don't feel entirely confident messing with the registry entries so I think I'll wait until my genius son-in law is next visiting (he did build my PC after all) and let him have a go.

Thanks for the reply.

Talking about modifying Windows 7.... Wink...
....apparently, one of the most difficult things to do, is to change the Windows 7 default boot-up sound to something different!
In Win 7, it involves complex alterations to the Registry!
It was easy in the previous versions; XP, etc.

Paul... Cool...!
