I am new to Flight sims, but consider myself to be quite computer savy. My problem is regarding installing the downloads to FSX once they are downloaded to my computer. I have created a file to download them to, and then unzip them in that same file, but I cannot get that aircraft to show on the menu of FSX.

The read me file included with the download usually has the instructions. if not you need to open the files after unziping them then move or copy them to their perspective c/program files/microsoft games/ microsoft flight simulator X      folders. (airplane) to SimObjects/Airplanes. (effects) to Effects. (guages) to Guages, and so on. Senery is a few more steps, it is usually all in the read me.

I have no place to go and all day to get there.

greetings all,
Attempting to install most of the Simviation downloadable
aircraft I get the aircraft program unzipped and installed in
... \aircraft. Clicking on the install program I get a message
'the installation could not be installed  because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author' I am running FSX in Vista
Help please !!!

Hi John. This is a bug caused by an installer application named Adobe AIR. Installing Adobe AIR associates all file types with an AIR file extension with itself & also changes the file icon. This does not affect the files themselves.

All FS aircraft have an AIR file which defines the flight dynamics. FS AIR files are not installers & there is no need to click on them. Install the aircraft manually as explained in this tute. http://simviation.com/1/fsxinstall
