Being the ultimate sceptic that I am, when anyone confronted with "The Law", who insist that the "DNA" discovered at the scene of a crime is, without a shadow of a doubt, belonging to the Prisoner in the Dock...
...!
...I am always curious to know if claims like this are really true, and accurate!...>>>
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19423147
I often wonder if they make this stuff up, just to claim that the method used is irrefutable?
A bit of 80,000 year-old bone!...brown eyes, etc?...
...!
Paul...I'm innocent...Your Honour!...

I think it is something to do with Mitochondrial DNA within the body part found. Teeth are excellent repositories for this sort of stuff.
The DNA tests from crime scenes work somewhat differently to match up people to evidence, or otherwise.
If someone took a sample of your bone marrow and gave it to a lab they can discover all sorts of things about you like hair colour, eye colour, racial origin etc. However they can't make a picture of you from it.
Science is amazing and I'm sure this data is correct as they know which parts of the genome form eye colour etc. So statements like that would be accurate.
At a crime scene they'd just have tissue to work from not Mitochondrial DNA, however this can be matched to a person in the same way a fingerprint can.
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

It can be true ,by DNA science can read the pattern and have a full view of a person
what I find a little bit of strange is a eighty thousand years old body would preserve DNA pattern of a living being ,I don't know the details of this body ,even if it was frozen carbon atoms decay/discompose and so the DNA structure after those long periods of time
I'm not a scientist, I don't know how they are doing it but if it is in BBC probably its true Maybe the scintist are Harry Potter ,Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley

Are you sure that the Cops are not pulling your leg, and getting you to admit to a crime, even tho' innocent, 'cos you have no way of disproving the DNA stuff!...

Mrs Ozzy used to watch a lot of those Discovery Channel FBI Files and forensic science programs (not those CSI ones but the proper documentaries). Picked up quite a bit...

I have always been very suspicious of this DNA malarkey when applied to criminal cases, because there never seems to be anyone around to prove that the findings were wrong, with the strong possibility that the wrong person was found guilty of a serious crime.
It is always assumed that DNA evidence is infallible, and therefore beyond doubt..and how are the Jury to know?
I am always convinced that both Science and Humans can make mistakes, so I always remain sceptical of various claims regarding DNA.
It may affect my freedom at some time in the future!...
...!
Paul...very suspicious of most things that Humans claim!..

In 80,000 years time, someone is going to dig up one of my teeth, and identify me as that crazy guy who used to be a member of Simviation, and type daft things, thousands of years ago...

NO fozzer, this will be the report:
Possible new human species found.
Very primitive build and the main diet apears to be gravy.
Brain seems extremely small for any creature.
