Good evening all... Smiley

Well I am off on my first simulated camping flight I hope.

Have downloaded the Return to Misty Moorings which is Freeware and that is right up my alley... Grin

It took a little time but I think it should be worth it...simulated flights will tell... Smiley

FSX and Windows 7
FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator
            set to Steves settings
REX Essential
ORBX Sceneries
...........Tongass Fjords would be a nice Payware addon
            if available for FSX...
Aircraft:  Carenado Cessna 185 Amphibian
              Great aircraft
I was looking for a Freeware Amphibian which was
perhaps a little smaller but could not find one...
Departure:  Misty Moorings "PF20"...
                  State of Alaska...United States
Arrival:       Moose Lake Lodge "CAS2"
                  Province of British Columbia...Canada
Have not got there yet...it is a tad over a two hour flight and need to clear customs somewhere... Grin

Season is summer and around 09:00 hours...

Altitude is around 1000ft...

REX weather gave me a nice rain shower but forgot to take a shot... Grin

Frame Rates set to 30 in FSX...

Leaving Mistys Place on the climb out...
     ...

Mistys is in the background but I do not think you can see the docks...
Lighthouse, dock and boat is a nice touch...
  ...

The Cessna 185 is a good old bird to carry everything for a camping trip for one or two folks...
...

Still early...nice glassy water...
...

Purring along and still in Alaska...
...

Front office...
...

Comments and advice most welcome... Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Tongass Fjords is available for FSX btw (It's by FS Addon).......and it's an excellent add on in my opinion Wink

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Thanks Chuck and much appreciated for that Link.... Smiley

I wonder if ORBX will come out with something to include the Tongass Fjords area?

I have two (2) ORBX Scenery now for the Pacific Coast and would like to keep it all the same.... Smiley

OrbX will not cover the Tongass Fjords area.
In fact, they made their PFJ area so that it perfectly makes the join between Tongass and PNW. PFJ area stops exactely where Tongass starts.

I have Tongass Fjords X and honnestly it's really similar to the OrbX quality, for the landclass. And it works perfectly when FTX Central is set to North America.

I like the atmosphere in these shots Doug. The plane looks good too. I have the same problem: it's hard to find a good freeware amphibian :/ I mean, a civil one. I wouldn't take the Grumman Duck for a bush flight, for example...

Thanks Stephane...much appreciated for that information... Wink

Think Tongass Fjords will be my next purchase.

I have only started to use this ORBX Scenery so have a little exploring to do.

Been years since I flew that actual area and would like to see what shakes the old grey matter "memory"... Grin

Thanks FuturePilot, it was not this complicated in real life aviating... Grin

Our Republic Seabee made an excellent family flying camper.
We had a couple of good summers with that when I was home.
