I've been having some terrible trouble with FSX lately...probably for the past 2 weeks. I haven't been able to get it to start, either it has a "Fatal Error" or cannot find scenery files that I have never even had or heard of. I've never messed with the scenery before, so I don't know what's up with it, but I cannot get it to work.
I'm getting Errors for Areas 116-121. My scenery.cfg only goes to 114.

Can you remember what you did/install when problems occured?
Are you able to make a rollback for so long a period?
You must remember there are 3 scenery.cfg in fsx.
1 in main folder, 1 in perfslog (hidden) on c drive, and 1 in appdata under user (hidden).
Have you tried a repair from cd drive? You can loose some files in addons, but i might be better than starting from scratch.
I know how you are right now

Last thing I installed was Accu-Feel...but everything worked just fine. Then I've been trying to get REX to work properly, messed with it, set everything to Administrator Settings and then things went crazy from there. I did try repairing from the disk...and got nothing, still no go. I found the other Scenery file in appdata, it has those areas. So many replacing that might work. Let's see...

It may be your FSX.CFG or your DLL.XLM, Try uninstalling all your addons then cleaning your FSX.CFG.

Shoot...I'd hope that I don't have to resort to that. It takes forever to redownload those add-ons.

Didn't you save them or back them up when you bought them?

I have a backup of the REX package since that took the longest, but for the planes, I had no room for 'em. lol. Those aren't a pain to redownload I guess, as long as I can remember which ones I have.

I'm sorry VBonanza. I made fault with Perflogs, it is programdata/microsoft/fsx (hidden)
At first, i would try to lockout those scenerys you mentioned by making "//" before each in appdata. Check the scenery.cfg in programdata. That one can really make a mess.
Then try to start fsx.

Well, I've put every scenery file back to default...nothing still. I'm about ready to give up on ever being able to use FSX again.

Maybe try deleting the FSX.cfg file if you haven't.

Where are you looking?
The fsx.cfg is in: C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Yes, and I guess I didn't see it last night I was really tired. Deleted it a minute ago, tried to run FSX, and boom...fatal error. Now I'm not even getting the scenery errors.

Sounds like somethin' is FUBAR. Uninstall and reinstall
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Yup, doing that right now actually. Good thing I only have my two Carenados, 162, and Raptor or it woulda been a nightmare to reinstall those. They don't take long to download, REX is saved on backup for emergency reinstalls, and Accu-feel is a tiny easy to download file.
