Good afternoon all...
Well I have a couple of problems and not sure what I am doing wrong.
Daube "Stephane" suggested these two aircraft by Tim Conrad, the Grumman AA-5B and the Meyers 200D.
The Grumman AA-5B would download but there were no instruments showing and no sound.
I tried several times and all I got was a shell of the aircraft.
The Meyers 200D I can not get the VORs to tune, the Heading Bug to work or the GPS on the pilots left to work.
I am not sure but do not see an ADF either.
Any ideas would be appreciated...

Sorry to hear about your problems, Doug. I think I have this the Meyeres 200 by Piglet......I'll look and see if everything works for me
By the way, shot #2 is a winner
P.S. You can change the text in the lower left corner to whatever you'd like it to say. It's in the main BDSizer menu
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Doug. I assume you're talking about this file -->
http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=aa5b_fsx.zip&categoryId=
To install the gauges paste the file named AA-5B.cab into your FSX Gauges folder.
The sound is aliased to the FSX default C172. This should work providing you haven't modified or deleted the C172.

I just checked this out in FS Panel Studio. For the missing gauges in the AA-5B paste copies of DeHavilland_Beaver_DHC2.cab & Extra_XML.cab into your FSX\Gauges folder. You will find these files in the panel folders of the respective default aircraft.
The Meyers is missing one gauge named Grumman_Goose_G21A.cab. You can find this in the Panel folder of the FSX default Grumman Goose. Paste a copy of the file into FSX\Gauges. I don't know if it will fix your problem with the VOR. I think the GPS on the pilot's side is a dummy.

Hi Doug...
Guage is now in the panel of the Grumman AA-5B and works fine...thanks...
The Meyers 200D:
VOR OBS still missing the dial to tune the #2 unit
Hydraulic and Oil Temp Guages still do not work
I think you are right Doug about the GPS top left of pilot.
It is a nice aircraft, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix these above problems?
I am wondering if because it is a FS2004 aircraft brought over to FSX these problems can't be fixed.

According to the file description Piglet's Meyers 200D is an FSX native model so that wouldn't explain the problem.

Can you post a screenshot showing which gauges you're talking about.

Indeed the Meyers 200D is a FSX native aircraft, it never had any FS9 version before. And as you guessed, the GPS unit on the top left is fake
Concerning the VOR adjustment, I believe this might be linked to a problem in the gauge declaration in the panel.cfg, I'll have to investigate about this.
Concerning the AA-5B, there are two versions. The first one was a FS9 version, but then came an upgrade that made it a real FSX native aircraft, not a port-over. It had a separate interior model, and self-shadows for example. I'm glad you sorted the gauge problem, I believe this should be described in the readme of that plane... Anyways, this is one of my favorite GA aircrafts. If I can find it again, I'll send you a link to a cool repaint for it (I don't like the default repaint on that one).
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

I checked the SimV library and it seems that the repaints I was mentionning have not been uploaded there :/
I could find them on flightsim.com however. There are in fact quite a few repaints for the AA-5B for FSX, and I recommend you those that were made by a certain "Edric Chew".
Too bad there are no repaints of the 200D. This plane has not been so popular for the repainters, I don't know why

Thanks Stephane...be good to be able to use the 2nd VOR.
Would also be nice to see proper readings on the other three guages which I shall post a shot of below...

Hi Doug...
Here are the two shots you requested...
VOR #2...no way to change the heading...
To the left of VOR #2 where you see OBS and HDG...these guages do not use the + or - either...I have to drag my mouse arrow across the panel to move them...the OBS will only move one way...
3 Guages will not change from the settings you now see no matter how long the flight or what I do...
Hydraulic Pressure...Oil Temp...Cyl Head Temp...
Not sure what guage is supposed to be in the spot that say's COMMANDER...perhaps ADF but not sure...I do not see anywhere on the Radio Stack to tune in an ADF so I am just guessing...
Thanks folks for looking into this.
One other question regarding the Forums.
I know my two shots actually refer to my post but was wondering if I should have started another post in the FSX Forums?
Much appreciated for all the help folks...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Hi Doug. What I don't know about FS gauges would fill several large volumes. All I can say is that the gauges defined in the Panel.cfg appear to be all present & correct.
I suspect the problem with the clickable functions on the HSI & VOR #2 is more due to a fault with the VC than the gauges. The VOR #2 is the gauge included in the FSX default Cessna182s.dll. I tried substituting it for the default Mooney Bravo gauge with no luck. By reducing the size of the gauge the adjustment knob becomes visible but still not functional.

3 Guages will not change from the settings you now see no matter how long the flight or what I do...
Hydraulic Pressure...Oil Temp...Cyl Head Temp...
These gauges are all included in 200D.cab which I assume was created specially for this aircraft. They all appear to be working. I can only assume any problem is with the appropriate entries in Aircraft.cfg.

No gauges are missing so I assume that's just a cover over a spare hole in the panel.

Hi Doug...
I deleted this aircraft and then did a new download and install.
I thought maybe that would fix the problems but it did not.
The problems still remain the same.
Wonder who else has this aircraft and if they have the same problem?

I have the same problems Doug.
The VOR2 cannot be adjusted, most likely Piglet forgot to model the rotary button.
The VOR1 works normally.
The empty gauge "Commander" is surely intended to be like that. On many VFR planes you can find empty spots, meant for optionnal avionics I suppose.
However the rest of the plane works quite well.
I could also make a small test flight with the AA-5B. Compared to the Meyers, this bird is showing is age (in terms of 3D modelling. It was one of Piglet's first planes, while the Meyers is one of the latests ones), but it still looks quite good, especially with the repaints I talked about earlier. Couldn't resist taking a shot. The FSX default Real Weather looks spectacular in Norway

I've already checked & double-checked this file Doug. Reinstalling it will not fix the problems.

The file has been downloaded 15,442 times from Simviation alone since being posted in December 2008. I can't find any updates for it on the usual FS websites so if anyone noticed these problems they haven't reported them to the author.
