I recently rebuilt my computer and now i keep getting a message stating that my computer has run out of memory.
I only had 4 gig ram on my old system and never had any issues my new system has only 4 gigs of ram as well because I am using W7 32 bit. I have the deluxe version of FSX and it will not run on W7 64 bit.
my settings are as follows
level of density med
mesh res 70m
texture res 2m
water effects mid 2.x
scenery complexity dense
auto gen norm
ground shadows off
special effects high
My new system uses a Quad core
and I have a GTX 550 ti video card
and use VIRTU
I hope someone can help me solve this problem Cry

Maybe i, and others, misunderstand you.
You say you use w7 32bit, but can't get fsx running on 64bit?
Would you clear that out, please.

Taking only 4 Gb of RAM on your new system was a huge mistake.
Choosing Win7 32 bits instead of 64 bits was another huge mistake. FSX runs perfectly fine on 64 bit systems, most of the simmers are using that.

Well according to Microsoft's own web page the deluxe version of FSX will not run on a 64 bit system Now the gold version will work but I have the deluxe edition
Look at this web site
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Browse.aspx?type=...
As you can see the deluxe version is not listed as being compatible.
I can only go by what Microsoft says.
That is why I chose the 32 bit version I did not want to buy the gold edition as I do not like acceleration

Like my last post stated I am using the DELUXE EDITION of FSX and it is not compatible with W7 64 bit.
I am aware that the GOLD EDITION will run on W7 64 bit but I did not want to buy another version.
To my knowledge the only difference between the two is GOLD has acceleration on it and a few other little extras.
But if Microsoft states that the deluxe will not run on the 64 bit OS then why would I buy that version.
FSX is the only program I have that will not work or otherwise I would be using the 64 bit system.
I plan on going to the 64 bit system later but for now just want to see if I can iron this out.

Or you can ask us on the forums and make us feel usefull  Roll Eyes Wink
MS has removed FSX from the 64 bits compatibility list because there are some minor issues with it, so it's not FULLY compatible in legal terms.

One issue for example is about declaring the addon sceneries in the scenery library: you need to click there in a certain way (one click more than usual, really), else it doesn't work. Once you do that (you do it once then you know it for the rest of your life, because it's really THAT simple), it works perfectly.

Another issue is with the game interface that needs the replacement of a certain DLL file, that has been discussed here (and in all other FS forums worldwide) to prevent some crashes to desktop each time you want to use the menu in flight.

... and I believe that's pretty much all Smiley

You tell me it is fixable but yet failed to mention how. can you provide a link or something or do I have to go looking for a needle in a haystack. And what you say might be true but I have not seen any posts here about this subject.
Help a guy out will you  Cry
PS According to the web page I went to today FSX deluxe is still on the uncompilable list

There are many threads but they are quite old now. Some links might be dead as well, but it's one of these problems that are now part of the "common knowledge", like for example the missing props of the FS2002 planes in FS9.

Anyways, the trick is very simple. Here is the problem: when you want to declare a new scenery, normally you go to the scenery library, click "add zone", navigate to your new scenery folder, highlight it and press the "OK" button, right ? In Win7 64, instead of seeing your scenery added to the top of the scenery library, you just see the content of your scenery folder (you see the subfolders "scenery" and "texture") ! Just like if you double-clicked on it to go inside instead of pressing OK.... that's a bug. However, at this point you simply need to click anywhere next to (not on) the subfolders, in the empty zone of the window. Just one click and you'll see your scenery added on top of the scenery library. That's all.

Concerning the DLL problem, make a search on the forum(s) about the file nammed "uiautomationcore.dll". You'll find explanations and links to download the file. The goal is to download a valid DLL file, and to put it into the FSX installation folder (where the FSX.exe file is), so that FSX uses that one instead of the standard one. That will solve the stability issue when using the menu in flight.

I appreciate the reply but I am somewhat leery swapping dll files around The last thing I need is to create more problems than what I all ready have. I have been reading some of Nicks post on windows 7 and will look into some of what he is talking about. I think I am going to try reducing some of the sliders and then go from there.
But like I said I appreciate the information. Cool

You're not "swapping" anything, for information.
Windows will never know you've done anything, since its own DLL will still be there, untouched.
The simple fact of placing a DLL with the same exact name directly in the FSX folder will make FSX use that one instead of the standard one, solving the crash issues. Wink
Deleting the DLL will get everything back as before, but obviously you won't want to do that.
Only thing to ensure is that you get a valid link to download the DLL.

But since you're not on Win7 64 at the moment, this is not the problem for you. It was just to explain the potential issues that FSX had on 64 bits operating systems. As you could see, it's not much, that was the point of my posts Smiley

Hi Gary, I recently just upgrade to win7 64bit and after tweeking, FSX runs even better than when i was using winxp sp3. Have you tryed this...... right click on the FSX.exe, click properties, and open the compatiblitys tab, you should be able to choose run FSX in winx sp3 mode. AS far as the "uiautomationcore.dll" just as Daube post, it does stop the sim from crashing, ( I think that it might only be for those running win7 64bit cause FSX was made for 32bit), but adding that dll does stop the crashing, so you might want to keep that in mind if you get the sim running and you have that issue. Best of luck!

I am not using w7 64 bit at this time but running anything in compatibility mode defeats the whole issue and it also slows the system down.
I honestly think that when I do switch to the 64 bit version of W7 I will either obtain FSX Gold or find some other sim as I really hate to run anything in compatibility mode. Cool
