Hi all

I eventually succumbed to my lack of flight sim in the last 3 years, so FSX happened. But for some reason wont work!

When i opened the package up i had two product keys given to me. Smart as it was, paid less attention than i should, entered the first one thinking if its wrong ill know and can enter the other one, problem solved.

Wrong! It seemed to accept the key as valid, then something else went wrong, an error popped up, but flight sim seemed to work fine. Eventually on my maiden flight, im taxiing to the active and "your trial session has expired please authorise your flight simulator" or along those lines, but nowhere does it give me the option to re-insert the correct product key to allow the sim to run properly.

Sorry if this has been asked many times before, I had a look and couldn't find it.

Thanks
Mass

Im doing the re-install at the moment, hopefully it will prompt me for the activation again.

Of the two product keys, how do i know which to use.
I have 1) Flight sim x pro
or 2) Flight sim X XP

Well, there are 2 codes in a fsx legal copy. One for the fsx deluxe (gold) and another for the expansion pack (xp).

I'm so glad you brought this up because I opened my FSX Gold package yesterday and saw the same thing and thought "say what?"

My question now is this>

Do I install the deluxe FSX and insert the registration key at that point, close the sim and re-start and then install the XP and the other registration key on that install?   Or how does one navigate on this mass of confusion?

Sorry folks, it's been a while since I've installed anything and now I'm doing it on a windows 7 OS and a new pc.  Village idiot here.

Help appreciated.

I always install the main thing, fire it up to see if its working, before i install any addons. As far as i remember, i need to do a clean up (uninstall/reinstall). before the key was accepted.
Good luck  Wink

I tried the re-installation, entered the first key when I had installed deluxe, opened the sim and had a little go. Everything seemed to work perfectly.

So after a short hop i re-booted the computer, and installed accelleration. At no point, however, was i asked for a further product key or any other activation, and then when I tried to boot the sim i was presented with an error that there was a problem with the activation of the product. I booted anyway and after half an hour (just as i started my approach on another short hop) i got the message saying "your trial period has now expired, please activate your product..."

Well, Mass, I remember that one.
The problem could be, that registry has some keys flying around.

I uninstalled, typed %temp% from start/run and deleted, ran ccleaner, and reinstalled fsx and expansion in one go.

Or you could try to run the ex pack again and see what happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you can have accleration and Delux installed at the same time Undecided

Acceleration is an expansion pack. It's just like any other addon. You must have FSX (either Standard or DeLuxe edition) installed & running properly before you can install it.

I'm sure that bass is correct about this. Uninstall Acceleration & FSX then run ccleaner to clear out any stray registry entries. Then start again from scratch.

Gosh I do apologise!

I thought I had already replied, i feel really rude!

Unfortunately I couldnt get it to work, I had the same issue as before. I tried ringing microsoft to activate over the phone and they told me the product no longer has support over the phone due to its release being so long ago. I was directed to a forum page that also no longer exists. Very frustrating.

In the end, I have bought a copy of FS9 and installed that too. I still use FSX however simply without the acceleration expansion at the moment.

Thankyou again for all the assistance and sorry for my lack of reply until now!

Danny
