Talk about returning to the scene of the crime! Nearly 20 years have passed since I was last here a lot thinner and a LOT fitter....
Yup, that special place. And oddly considering the beasting we did (over-took quite a lot of people) I'm feeling surprisingly chipper!
Sorry about the quality, I forgot my camera and had to use my BlackBerry....

I was going to say Pen Y Fan, but the last image appears to have given it away!
(although of course Facebook was the actual culprit!)

A fun day out training with two of my closest friends. What a superb day. Saw a number of young soldiers training ready for Summer Selection as well. I must be getting old as they looked like kids to me!!!
Mind you we can't be that ancient, we set off 15 mins after one group (who'd be going on about their many hours down the gym etc) and we reached the summit 30 mins before them. Not bad for three old farts
I was delighted when we got within 100m of the summit and it started snowing
All the rambler types were pulling on woolie hats and waterproof jackets whilst I was thundering along in trackie bottoms and a T-Shirt moaning about how warm I was and that the sweat was monsooning off me
Guess I was pushing it a tad... Fabulous day out with two great mates and much fun and merriment was had.

Well here is one from Pete's camera! And yes I'm looking a little warm after the final assault...
And the little white spots are snow!!!! And I'm still only in my T-Shirt and track-suit trousers. Still harder than a very hard thing....
So either sponsor us or we'll come round your house without a stitch on... you've been warned!

I used to do those trips around the Welsh mountains (Brecon Beacons/Black Mountains. Only 20-30 miles from where I live), many years ago, with my youngest lad Peter, (now 37 years old), in a Carrying Frame, on my back!
Happy memories...but...It would kill me now!

I have always been one of the few people who doesn't need special clothing for Arctic Warfare
I remember when I was first living in Hungary I'd go out jogging/wading in chest deep snow in combat trousers and a T-Shirt when everyone else was wrapped up like Ranulph Fiennes on his way to the Pole! Even now the neighbours are terrified of me in Winter

Its exactely the same here, not as exgtreme tough.
I somehow just don't feel cold as quickly, but heat extremely quickly.
I am outside in a t-shirt while the rest are in jumpers,I do wear a hoodie when it gets cold tough...

I was at work last night, down on the ramp. I was in a t-shirt surrounded by colleagues wrapped up ready to go to the Eastern Front. They made me hot just to look at them

There's a cairn and memorial plaque up near Pen-y-Fan near the spot where 5-year-old Tommy Jones died of exposure in 1900.
He wandered away from his dad down in the valley as night was falling and his body was found a month later after massive searches, it's a mystery why he went up there instead of staying in the warm well-wooded valley.
