When I went down to IAD to see Discovery come in I spent some time in the most amazing place afterwards. It was was my first visit to the NASM Udvar-Hazy Center and it won't be my last. I didn't have enough time to see everything this trip but I am planning a two day trip to visit both of the Smithsonian's Air & Space Museums soon. Seeing the SR-71 and Enola Gay in person was just awesome!!
Here are just a few of the many aircraft they have.

Nice shots, I've been several times, and they have a lot of cool stuff there! Smiley
I wanted to see Discovery there last weekend, but didn't get a chance to.

I went in 1999. Unfortunately, the entire aircraft collection was cordoned off due to building renovation. However we are flying into JFK this summer and then driving to North Carolina. Having just run this by Mrs Expat, the question now arises;
Does anyone know of/can recommend a family run hotel within 50 to 75 miles of Washington between Washington and the I81? I could of course Google this, but a recommendation is always better.......

Took the family on a trip this past winter which included the Great Lakes Science Museum, National Museum of The USAF, OH, Mammoth Caves KY, Gatlinburg TN, and Udav-Hazy Museum. Happened to be in the Museum Tower when an Air France A380-800 landed. Way Cool
This was my third trip to the USAF museum and second to the air and space

Sadly the Udvar-Hazy Center is still on my to do list, as work never let me stay in the right part of DC for long enough to get a visit done. Did the NASM downtown twice though! Grin
