I'd appreciate it if you guys could answer these questions for me:

1) What is GA Aircraft?

2) Can an aircraft failure happen at any time without you setting a failure? (such as engine failure at a random time)

3) What is a decent AI traffic add-on? - right now I have World of AI but the AI aircraft is a little blurry and not as crisp as it could be,, is this because I have all my settings on low? If I put max settings on, will the AI traffic look less blurry-like?

Thanks guys, it's appreciated!

1) General aviation - Most non-military and non-airline type stuff falls into this category.
2) Not unless the aircraft is designed that way
3) Most AI traffic have simpler/blurrier models to keep your sim running smooth.  I used to use World of AI myself, and thought it was pretty decent.  Nowadays, I use a payware traffic package called MyTraffic.  I have also heard some good things about ultimate traffic.

Chances are, your settings won't change much with how the AI looks.  Again, they are made simpler to keep your sim running smooth.

Cheers,
RB

1.  GA stands for general aviation, which is everything except for airlines and military aviation.

2.  I believe flight sim will allow you to set percentages for random failures, but as I do not use this I do not know a lot about it.

3.  World of AI is a good freeware AI add-on. There are some payware AI programs like TrafficX.  Usually AI aircraft are slightly lower quality for better computer performance.

looks like I was beat to the punch!

The default FSX planes will suffer from the following failures, but they won't be random:
- pitot will stop working if you forget to enable the pitot heat
- the liners will fall from the sky if you forget to set the anti-ice systems
- the piston engine of the Mustang will start to loose power and eventually catch fire if you keep the manifold pressure too high. This feature can be adapted to any piston engine aircraft in the sim, with a simple line in the aircraft.cfg. This works ONLY with FSX Acceleration.

Other addon planes, payware or freeware, might have some specific damage modelling implemented. The payware planes made by A2A with the Accusim extension are today the absolute best of the best in terms of damage and wear simulation, Aerosoft also has a very realistic GA aircraft, the DA20 Katana 4X with Accusim-style wear and damage handling. For freewares, search for the damage and wear mod that has been discussed recently in the FSX section, this addon brings a (very) simplified damage model to some planes, like the default C172, Baron and C208.

Other planes which have so special gauge or failure-handling-mecanisms will NOT suffer from ANY failure at all, until you diecide to set some random ones in the game menu.

I'm afraid that my U-Tube Music Folder is taking up most of my Hard Drive!
I have an addiction to saving everything which I find good!
I accompany most of them on my vast array of musical instruments!...in between cooking, and pretending to fly imaginary aeroplanes!.. Grin...!

Its a grand life!... Grin...!
