After barely surviving our English Winter, Spring has finally arrived in my back garden, with brilliant, warm sunshine, encouraging all my trees, shrubs and plants, to burst into blossom...!
..and I am thinking to my self, (as I do), wouldn't it be lovely if we could set our Weather, etc, options to bathe our Flight Sim scenery in fantastic bright sunshine on a clear Spring/Summer/Autumn day!
No matter how much I tweak/fiddle-with, my FS 2004 Weather, Ground Environment Pro, Real Environment Pro, VOZ 1,8, etc, etc, it never replicates the sheer joy of wheeling one of my little GA aircraft out of my dark hangar, into brilliant sunshine, for an enjoyable trip around the sun-bathed countryside...
..its the one thing I really miss in the Flight Sim Weather Options!
Paul...on a warm Spring day..somewhere in sun-kissed Southern California...

I don't know how the winter was across the puddle, but her in the Midwest USA, we had an exceptionally mild winter. Seriously, I think we had maybe three good snowfalls and I don't remember it getting below zero (F) even once...

Hardly any snow here in Southern Ontario along Lake Ontario.
We had lots of wind.
It was supposed to rain yesterday and today but the sun shone yesterday and is shining today....
Paul
Some of your shots where the aircraft is in front of a building with people standing around show like it is a nice warm wonderful day.
Not sure how you did those but they looked good.
In FSX I always experimented with the:
Season (4)
Month (12)
Time of Day (24 Hours)
I found a lot of variations and still see more using those three settings.
Then I go to my clouds and choose what setting I want there.
If I am on the water with a float aircraft then I try to work all the above around the FS Water Configurator Setting I chose.
I find it quite a challenge sometimes and rarely get the atmosphere for the shot I am after.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

..its the "brightness" of the landscape that I am after, on a bright sunny day.
The landscape doesn't "shine brightly" when we program a sunny weather scene.
Certain parts, cornfields, etc, show up nice and "yellow", but any area which is covered by dark green foliage is always "dull", even though the sun is shining brightly overhead!
I have adjusted the RGB settings in my GE Pro to make the scenery appear "brighter", but it still doesn't replicate a hot, Summer mid-day, with a clear blue sky!
I need to feel; "warmth" around me...

Note: Even in "Flight", although Hawaii is bathed in brilliant sunshine (hopefully), the scenery below doesn't replicate it!

We had a good weekend in Ireland here.
The winter was good this year, especialy if you see the 'severe snowfall'(read: 1/2CM of snow...)from the last 2 years.

Of course now that I have said this, the temperatures have dropped to almost freezing at night and I'm getting that little tickle in my throat that tells me a cold is coming on...

The thing I love about my FS 2004 Flight Sim, is that no matter how wet, miserable, and horrible, and cold, the weather is outside in my back garden, I can fire up the Flight Sim, select a gorgeous, clear blue sky, warm, sunny, mid-day, in Summer, or early Autumn, and transport myself into the inviting Californian scenery I see before me!
I just wish that the Sim scenery around me was; "Brighter", to replicate those exact conditions, and bring an even bigger smile to my face!

Have you ever tried to play around with the ENB bloom for FS9 ?
When configured properly, it can give some pretty nice results with lights and colors.
Of course, if it's not configured properly, it can also produce totally unrealistics results like if you were flying on drugs...
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

Yes but worse : you get no diamonds, and you don't get Lucy either
But it's ok, you can get Heidi instead, she's fine too and unlike any other woman in the world, you can CHOOSE her actual character: calm, fun, nervous aaaaaand.... SILENT ! Talk about luxury

What settings DO you use for ENB bloom in FSX?
Yours seem quite light but mine are kind of dark.

I found Bloom for FS 2004, (I think), downloaded it, and installed it...
I don't know if its my imagination, but when I select my Summer flights now, in southern California, with a clear blue sky, I've got an idea this; "Bloom" may be brightening up my scenery?
My cultivated, and grass fields, suddenly seem more; "sun-shiny"?
The sky also seems much brighter, blue high up, and whiter/brighter lower down!
The thing is....whereabouts is this; "Bloom" program located, and can it be configured in any way?
Something seems to have done the trick!
Note: FS 2004!
Paul...A blooming good show!...

The bloom module is, in fact, modifying each of the frames that FS9 (or FSX) draws. The bloom "hacks" DirectX9, it sets itself in between DirectX9 and your sim silently, in order to "alter" the visuals produced by the sim. This is called "post-processing".
You can deeply alter the effects by editing the content of the file enbseries.ini.
I would also suggest you to give a try to my actual settings. I have stored everything (well, two files, that is) in this archive on my personnal webspace:
http://sapdaube.free.fr/fsx/bloom2.zip
There is also another set of files that are tweaked by the talented guys from REX team, but I cannot locate it at the moment. They have some settings which seem to be quite appreciated by a good part of the community.
The effects of the bloom module are not only limited to daytime. The bloom is this kind of "glow" around the shiny parts of a dark picture. Because of this, the flights at dusk or dawn can become very spectacular, and if you have a plane with a sun panel (dark transparent movable thing, I don't know the exact name), you might have to use it sometimes. The results at night, if the module is configured properly, can be quite interesting as well. You'll have to reconsider your usage of cockpit lights, because they might become a real interference to your external vision.
All these things are small details, but they eventually add some immersion in the sim, some additionnal things that make you feel there.
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

At least I now know where to find the config file!...
...!
At the moment, the default setting seems to be working fine, for my bright, Summer/Autumn scenery.
I'll have a little experiment with at, (after saving my existing file).
Many thanks...

Funny, We've been in continuous sunshine since mid January. Today it rained a about an inch or two. Yikes.
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.
