Hi Everbody. I'm not sure if this one is in the right place, I apologize if it isn't. But anway, I have recently had an interest of flying on VATSIM, but have encountered several diffculties. Of these difficulties, FSX freezing after I switch from another window (Squawkbox, ACARS, etc.) back to the FSX window. According to my task manager, FSX is still responding, but it's not interactive. What I'm basically saying is when I switch back to the FSX window, it stops and I can't click anything or change my view, but I can still hear the background noise, sometimes it would come back after a couple minutes but sometimes it doesn't. I'm sorry if I'm not being too clear. Is there anyway I can make FSX come back faster after switching from another program?

The next time it happens, open task manager and take a look at your page file usage. I'd be willing to bet it's a heck of a lot. Also, while FSX is "stuck", is there a lot of hard drive activity? FSX is really hard on memory, and vitual memory is WAY slower than actual ram. While I don't propose to know how to fix this (assuming I correct, getting more ram would help), I suspect your system running out of usable physical ram, and the delay you're experiencing is caused by your system having to play catch up after switching tasks, by reading alot of data from virual memory. (which is actually stored on your hard drive.)

Yes, fsx is hard on memory.
You could try x 1.5 the psysical mem you have, to your virtual in win. But the more programs running, more lack you get.

Thank you both for your help, by making some adjustments to my computer's memory I can switch between most programs seamlessly.
