Star Trek, Star Wars for TV/Film

Raised on Sci Fi books and that's where my preferance lies.

Heinlein, Herbert, Asimov, Niven, LeGuin, Harrison, Dick etc.

Of the ones in the poll, I have only seen Star Wars, a few Thunderbirds episodes and some other ones...

...However, I have literally just finished watching Serenity (the credits are playing in the background) so I think you can guess which is my favourite  Tongue

Star Wars....but only the original set!
Tron....only the original.
Blade Runner*.

In fact, most films made from the mid 1980's, and earlier.
Films made after that, are far too clever for their own good!

Agree.

Bladerunner is the best sci fi movie ever made in my opinion. The musical score is brilliant, so is the acting, filming and directing.  The original novel is slightly different but also very good.......the story asks questions very similar to Frankenstein.

Try Firefly... It is made by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/ Angel creator) and it is about space-pirates and space-westerners... Very well made!

"Now, ya'll get back here!"

If that's not interesting enough, Christina Hendricks is star of two of the episodes  Wink

Star Trek's my choice, with a tip of the helmet to MGM's Forbidden Planet which was a great influence for Gene Roddenberry when he created the original series.

Firefly/Serenity was great entertainment, but I was never comfortable with the way it wanted to glorify prostitution, i.e. the hotty "companion" character. IMHO that often bordered on sleaze. Why the captain, Reynolds, went so ga-ga over a high-price whore was, to me, just unbelievable.

Then again, WHAT WAS IT about Kirk that he was always, always getting the babes?  Grin

But, out of any of the flying machines and spacecraft in the listed poll choices, I'd give anything to get to fly THUNDERBIRD 1 or THUNDERBIRD 2. Both way too cool.
