Good morning all...
Here are a few more shots of just some of the A1 Traffic I see on FSX and again just a few as there seems to be lots.
For Stephane "Daube":
FSX and Windows 7
HDE Clouds
3D Lights
FS Water Configurator not used for these shots
Season: Winter and all are morning shots...
Texture Max Load Editor...Resolution 4096 (SHD)
Mostly all Freeware right here at the Simviation FSX Download Site...
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Display Adapter
3.30 gigahertz intel core
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 Total)
320.06 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
Microsoft Flight Simulator X...Deluxe Edition
Microsoft Simulator Acceleration Expansion Pack
Flight 1 Ultimate TerrainX CANADA
Flight 1 Ground Environment X...USA CANADA ALASKA
This computer is only used for FSX and nothing else...
Here is what I do Stephane...
Screenshot>Open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager>
Auto Correct>Save
BDSizer is used to resize
Now what I am not sure about is this...
-I am not editing the shots in my opinion
-only resizing them
Am I correct in assuming this and anyone can feel free to jump in here on this one as I think the shots should be in the "Simviation Screenshots Showcase".
However if they are considered edited than my apology for not putting them in the correct section.
This will be twice this month and I hope they don't call me down to the Moderator's Dungeon...
So again here are a few shots of some A1 Traffic in my FSX...
Comments and advice most appreciated...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Hi Doug,
Just got your PM, just when I was about to leave the office
(I'll leave right after writting this post, my car is waiting for me in the garage with her new brakes).
Here are some remarks on these shots:
1- You have chosen a very nice-looking plane, with a nice repaint on it. This plane looks GOOD, definitely
2- You have not chosen a nice place though. A flat airport in the middle of an infinite flat space full of flatness
That's the kind of place I tend to avoid as much as I can, at least with the slow planes. It's very hard to get interesting screenshots in such conditions... however, there is a technique: this is one of the situations where you have to use extensively the zoom
Set your camera far away from the plane, get the ground out of the view, and use the various scenery elements (trees, buildings and other aircrafts) as background. There are quite a few aircrafts visible on your shots, I'm sure you can get some interesting view angle where they would all appear as if they were very close to each other (just like the zoom technique to get a giant moon in the background).
As an alternative, you can also put your camera very close to the plane, and make the kind of shots I made with the Beaver, see what I mean ? And with a little bit of experience, you should be able to make such shots and ALSO capture a piece or two of nearby planes.
3- Don't use only the normal external view (spot). Use also the special views, and if the DC-3 doesn't have enough of them, remember you can copy them from other planes
I have to escape now. I'll try to provide more details when I reach home.
Cheers,
Stephane.
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

Doug I don't think the mods like auto-correct. I remember Dave71k got warned about using that function.

Trucker, The airport manager wants you in the office NOW!!! So Taxi to Gate PAPA 3 using taxiway Foxtrot.
I can now start my atc career
Anyway, It's like a tour with a DCS around the Airport. Your passengers must have paid an arm and a leg for that cruise around the
.
And as always, Great shots
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Auto correct as in spelling auto correct? I don't see anything wrong with using it and don't remember an issue with Dave71

Aircraft Shadows, Doug....
Aircraft Shadows!
...

Without them its impossible to tell if the aircraft is on the ground, or floating up in the air!
Enable "Objects cast Shadows" in your Hardware options, before taking the Screen Shots!...

I believe this is the auto-correct feature in question:
http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1228290&seqNum=7
....depending on the program, I assume they are all similiar.
The question was raised a while back by Dave71. The conclusion that we came to was that the only editing allowed (in the screenshot showcase)was the addition of a frame.
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Thanks Chuck...
Okay will not use Auto Correct when posting a screenshot again...
Paul the box was checked for shadows so not sure what happened unless that Auto Correct cancelled the shadows out.
Will have another look.

Hi Paul...
Not sure what happened as the box was checked and the post "Just a few" the shadows show up quite well.
I took the pictures in both posts the same way...strange...something got changed somehow but will keep checking those boxes before taking shots and a flight.

I am always surprised that I seem to be the only one that notices that shadows are missing from many of the screen shots!...
....!
Without "shadows" enabled, it is impossible to tell whether the aircraft is seated on the ground, or not!
Even Cliff Richard was in the Shadows!...

Thanks Paul...
I check all my settings even before setting the radios and saving a flight.
Depending what type of flight and where I really adjust the traffic settings a lot but leave the shadows etc. on.

This is the setting that controls aircraft shadows (including AI traffic) in FSX.

Hi Doug...
Yes that is the one I use and normally I will uncheck the middle box but perhaps I should leave all three checked.
When I open a screenshot by this method:
Screenshot>Open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager>
Auto Correct>Save
Is this considered "Editing"?
If it is I now know why they don't want it used in the Graphic Gallery>Simviation Screenshot Showcase even though it is part of the Microsoft Office Picture Manager Program.

The top one is all you need for ground shadows.

I thought you used BD Sizer to resize your shots. I've never used Office Picture Manager & have no knowledge of it. I presume that "Auto Correct" is similar to the "Auto Adjust Colours" function in IrfanView.
I suppose this would be considered editing if you wanted to be pedantic. I'm not sure it's anything to worry about unless you're entering a shot for a competition.

Hi Doug...
Yes I use BD Sizer after I open my shots in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and I am sure that Auto Correct does the same thing in that program as does Auto Adjust Colours in IrfanView.
Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Hi Doug. Why do you need this Picture Manager gizmo? I was wondering why you don't open the shots directly in BD Sizer.

Hi Doug...
I thought Auto Correct in Microsoft Office Picture Manager made the shot look much nicer but will now go back to opening in BD Sizer.
