Looking at & reading about
Flight
so far I wonder why MSoft are not releasing this on the xbox and android & apple apps?
It seems to me that the target audience for
Flight
are gamers - but gamers are not found playing games on their PC that much these days - more often games consoles and tablets/phones ..
By making it for the PC surely they are inviting the long established Flight Simulator users to compare it and ..... now look at the backlash!!

As a gamer, a PC one even, I can't help but shake my head at your statements.

It's not so much to do with what Flight can offer, but more that the ability of getting a fully fledged game of that magnitude onto a console or mobile just isn't there. For xbox it would either require using a lot of discs, or downloading it; and I don't know many people who have the 120 or 250gb version. Plus, the game would be too complex for an Xbox controller... You'd really need a keyboard too just to be able to do everything.
X-plane exists for android and iOS, they'd have to try and fit it onto their windows phone and I know of nobody that is buying those.
Want an 'xbox' flight simulator? Plug in your xbox controller and use it as a joystick

I seem to remember that Microsoft confirmed back in November that Windows 8 and the new Xbox, whatever it's going to be called, have the same compatibility. Therefore I would expect Flight is going to début the crossover compatibility. This would explain Flight's loss of simulation physics and a full open world, since the Xbox will still have far more limited performance than even the most basic PCs. It would also explain the fact, now that I think of it, that Flight only has about 16 control inputs and relies mainly on use of a cursor.

What makes you think there aren't simulation physics in the final release? Where did you hear about there being such limited controls?
The game will still have the full world, but you just purchase the land that you want. It saves you from spending the full price of a game on getting elements that you don't want to use.
I'm not sure about the Windows 8 and Xbox bit though. I know that the December update of the Xbox dashboard made it look like Windows 8, but I thought that was just about it. I know people are fussing about Flight, but I am fussing about Windows 8... It's just an annoying layout.

I've played the beta, and the people at CES have played the beta... But I haven't seen much in the way of final release details.
I'm not betting on anything, I just dislike speculation. A lot of people are getting angry over what they have 'heard', but barely anything is official.

Wrong I'm afraid
Hawaii only and no jets. You purchase extra islands in Hawaii and extra propeller aircraft but that's as far as it goes.
MS sold the FS platform which was 25 years in the making. Even 10 years into FS development the world was very basic. Now Lockheed Martin own the best virtual world in existance.
In Flight there is nothing beyond Hawaii.

I think you statement about gamers not using PC's is very misinformed.
I am not a PC gamer apart from FSX (which isn't a game) but you'll find the majority of hardcore gamers are using PCs for Battlefield 3, COD, WOW etc

Read the second half of that sentence
The world is available (I presume the full world) but you purchase the land that you want. Depending on the expense, detail and complexity of those addons... It may or may not be worth the cost. If you assume that FSX was about £40 or so, and you had Acceleration, then so long as it isn't more expensive to buy all the parts separately, it seems like a good investment (in terms of addons). The rest of the game details are yet to follow.

I mostly fly around the Pacific Seaboard of the USA so purchasing that highly detailed? area for a nominal sum would be acceptable to me.
The additional expense and complication would arise during on-line, Multiplayer Sessions, where each player may decide to use a different part of the World for the flight!
We would then have to purchase the "whole World" scenery files, to cater for that eventuality!
That's when it may become overly expensive!
Paul.

You do know you'll have to Buy your "trusty" Cessna 150, right?
But anyway, If I want complet world scenery in fsx, Buy REX
.
If I want EXTREMELY detailed areas of scenery, Buy everything from orbx.
.
It seems that all developers are really trying to show Microsoft what they're gonna be missing
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

For my scenery, I use:
REX for FS 2004.
GE Pro for FS 2004.
FS Global SE for FS 2004.
VOZ 1.8 for FS 2004 (Free equivalent to Orbx for FS 2004).
...and each one covers the whole World, with one purchase!...
...!
The various SRTM Meshes covering the whole World for FS 2004 are
free
from Simviation!

I'm still eager to try-out "Flight", but I suspect I will still be using FS 2004 for all my "serious?" flights...
...including; Multiplayer!
Paul....

he's kinda right, yes there are gamers on pc im one.
what he should said is, they sould have make a version for xbox to get those gamers and not destroy what msflight is on pc. to be honest with you if you make a flight game this small at least put guns for us to shoot, i dont see a good future here.
