I've been following this. I've got a friend and his wife in L.A. somewhere, I'll email him to be sure they're OK. Most likely they are.

This is totally crazy. The only way to defend yourself, since the police can't be everywhere, is to get the neighbors together on 24/7 watch teams, with the consideration that the perps on these may be armed.

If this happened anywhere near me I'd be sitting in my front yard well out of sight with my rifle at the ready. When it comes to protecting your life and home on your own property, I'm sorry to say, but that's the only way.

After Hurricane Andrew here, in Aug 1992, people in no-power areas were doing just that.

I was burlarized once, Dec 26, 1996. They didn't wreck anything at all, just took stuff I didn't need anyway, and couldn't get into the secure rooms where my real valuable stuff is. A clean robbery, nothing broken.

But it's a terrible, eerie feeling and creates serious paranoia for awhile.

Just imagine having your house burned down.

Just be thankful that he will be under USA Justice and not shipped back to Germany to face the music. Here he would get rehabilitation in the form of a couple of years in a hotel prison, along with let out time to attend some group hug therapy, rather than what he will get........A long time in a small cell and a couple of times a week let out for a shower to pick up the soap that Bubba has just "accidentally" dropped. I just feel sorry for the Californian tax payer, they have greater priorities to pay for at this time.
